|

So: heres my problem: First of all, it's small as hell, second, it's all curly... I'm posting 2 pics... The first one is without any weight, the second one is with 4 65lbs sandbags and 6 peeps weighing an average of 130lbs in the boat... The problem I have is that I don't always have 6 peeps in the boat... The best I can get is like 2 or 3, and my 4 sandbags... I'm SERIOULSY thinking about buying a fatsac really soon thoe... WHat would you recommend? My boat is a 18ft challenger 1800...
The second pic is my sister... It's the only decent pic I have because she simply ISNT able to take decent pictures, but it gives you an idea of the wake... Yeah, it's easy to tell she's just starting...

| A fat sac would help. You'll want to add weight to the front, as well. Maybe a fat sac in the back and moving those sandbags to the front would be a good start. If this boat is what I think it is, though, it has really low gunwales so you'll need to be careful about slowing down in a hurry or cutting back through wakes as you'll get water inside pretty easily (passengers never like that, even on the hottest days it seems). Hope that helps. I don't know what you mean by "all curly" as the shape looked alright for the line length you were using. If you want to go further back, though, you'll probably have to ride a little faster.

Usually having too much weight in the bow will cause the wake to curl or wash. I'd definetely say 600 lb. fat sack with the sandbags up front. Also, maybe you should adjust the trim to clean the wake up OR just go faster.
I'm running 600 in the back and 350 up front. Wake is decent.

the biggest thing is to trim the motor up 1/4 to 1/2 half. This make increase your wakesize dramatically. And it also crisps up your wake too
here is a pic with 350 lbs throughout and 4 people in my old 83 wellcraft i/o

What do you mean by "trimming the motor up 1/4 1/2 half."?

Hey guys,
Look at how wide the washy section is on there. I'd call it prop wash but that would be contrary to the point I'm trying to make: I'm betting that's a dual jet drive boat.
Maniac,
If it is a jet drive, I don't think you'll be able to clean up the wake, i.e. make it smooth and crisp. Adding sacks will definitely improve the size though. It would be interesting to see what would happen if you could adjust the "toe" of the jet drives. I mean, what if you could make them both point inward a bit? That might clean up the wake. The way a wake forms, it might even make it bigger...not that you could do that anyway.
I think the people who were saying to trim it up were assuming you had an I/O. I don't even know if jet drives have trim or not. If they do, I don't know how it would affect the wake but, by all means, play with whatever settings you have under your control.

Indeed, it's a dual jet drive boat... I doubt HEAVILY I could adjust the toe of the jets... If I rememeber well, they have HUGE metal bars keeping them straight behind the boat, and it would also probably hinder performance a lot... The only settings I can adjust on that boat is the weight... Not a lot, but hey, I'm sure I'll ba able to do something with it somehow... ANyway, my father is looking into buying another boatr next year, but I wanna make the best with what I have this summer... So I'll probably buy a fat sac soon, even sooner if I get employed at a boardshop I postulated to... I'll be sure to post pics of it when I get that fatsac...
Lets hope for the best! I wanna have a "productive" summer!

ahah! Stop bursting my bubble you meanie!!! I can actually get *decent* air off this... And it's not bad working your technique when you don't have the perfect equipment, because when you get that êrfect equipment, your techniqu is not flawed by a monstrous wake...

Bro, not to further burst your bubble....but more than likely you are picking up bad habits from riding behind that boat.
Like I said though, a wakeboard rope and handle will make a big difference in your riding.

yea I agree, when u ride with a stretchy rope you form alot of bad habits, because you have to compensate for the pull of the rope
