|
|
I just sold my old boat an looking to buy a boat for boarding and surfing. Really wanted a vdrive but I just came across a 2003 moomba outback (wakeboard edition) 21ft with only 140hr in perfect condition for $14500. Problem is it has no tower no wedge and no perfect pass. I've never boarded behind a ddrive like this so was curious how the wake would be for surfing and boarding. Was hoping someone would be familiar with this boat to help me out with my ?. Guy says it has a different haul type to put out a good wake but is this true? Price seems good but will this boat work for what I want? |

I haven't surfed behind my Mobius DD yet... but the wake seems great to me! I figure next summer, I will get some of my bigger friends to sit in the corner! _________________ '08 Mobius LS |

The wake is great... of course V-Drive guys will laugh at me! I am a novice rider. Does the one you are looking at have built in ballast? _________________ '08 Mobius LS |

No it does not nor a tower but I figured for the price I could add all that an still be money ahead on it.what ya think? The guy said it was wakeboard edition so the haul type was made to put out a better wake..do you know if there is any truth to that? |

The LS was basically a Mobius without the tower, ballast, and PP. The LS hull is a crossover hull, it's not going to put out a huge wake without a ton of weight. But it has a nice shape and cleans up pretty easily, plenty of wake for the average recreational rider.
It sounds like this guy is just repeating what the dealer told him when he bought it and really doesn't know much about the boat. The Mobius was basically the "Wakeboard edition" of the LS, the Outback LS was a no frills price point boat.
Does it have the electric trim tab or is it manual? EFI motor or Carbed? |

Mine has the LSV hull and built in ballast as well as "Moomba cruise", is it possible the '03 might have some or all of those? _________________ '08 Mobius LS |

Good point... another thing I just thought about...I think Skiers Choice didn't take over Moomba till '05??? I have heard the quality can be a bit questionable before then. Kinda like Harleys from the 80's.
I used to own a Mastercraft... an'83. It was a great boat. _________________ '08 Mobius LS |

Skier choice took over moomba before 2005, I don't know the year, but my 2004 is a skiers choice boat. _________________ Brent B
