In your opinion should I begin trying 3's or tantrums and backrolls first???? Or is it really just the same either way you look at it.

You shouldn't try either unless you can do 180s.
But if you've got that, and can ride switch, I'd go for spins first. |

I'd say backroll, the actual spin of the 3 is easy, but its the handle pass some people stuff up on. _________________

True, spins are more difficult, that's why you should spin first. Otherwise.....you may become A HUCKER!!! |

Toothpick I can pull all the 180's and I can throw everything from surface 180's to surface 720's on a wakeskate so do u think the 3's still harder or should those handpasses help out? _________________ Slob Gear

i learned a 3 before a backroll.......
lol tooth a luck hucker
dumass the handle pass is hard on a 3 cuz its not like a normal jump you have to pull the hanle pretty hard to get rid of the line tension and if you underrotate a 3 and clip your back edge on the water, the back of your head is gonna smash and its gonna hurt really bad
try backside 180's to get used to the handle pass _________________ I'd rather die trying.....then live wondering |

I agree with DW, I have been working on the 3 for a long time, I get it now at least once ev. time I go out. It hurts to miss it, and now I am cautious all around, so if I did it again, I'd do the inverts first, or at least along with the 3's...very different tricks
The inverts are nothing if you miss them(painwise), I think the confidence they build will help you,,,just dont forget to learn the 360 |

dumassonwheels89, I would say that those surface spins should really help your body to get the feel of what spins in the air should feel like, as well as teaching you the handle pass. True, spinning in the air is different, but that's a real good way to practice.
Another way to practice the spin & handle pass without the line tension is to do little one wake 3s and do them off of rollers outside of the wake. It's all about muscle memory. |

I just starting sticking 3's about 2 out of 3 tries this last week. I also stuck a backside 180 on the 2nd try. Definetely easier than 3's if you are comfortable landing switch. Maybe it's just because they were easy after the 3's. I did a lot of inside out and flats handle passes building up to the w2w 3. (Backside and Frontside 180's and 3's) _________________ Ride harder...

| Go for the inverts They're easier to learn. But, don't just keep throwing the inverts after you got 'em, You gotta learn to spin. |

| backside 180's with handlepass.... I never thought of that. That's a great idea. I was on holidaze last week and got a lot of water time, and I'm pretty good at the heelside 180 and I get pretty high too. For some reason I get higher on the 180 than I go on just a heelside jump. I must be cutting harder at the wake. I tried a few threes this week as well, and if you do miss em, you will catch the edge and eat it. I was getting closer, but it really rattles your head around. it's hard to spot the landing on a 3 for the first couple of times, and I didn't pull the handle real hard either. I know what I gotta do, but doing it is another thing |

definately a matter of opinion here...I'd been triin to land a bs 3 for a while till me mentor said try a tantrum, much easier on the body when you miss those. I do think it is important to progress and spins and inverts though. It will make you a better rounded rider in the end. I'd try both, either a backroll or tantrum or a 3, which ever one feels more natural. _________________ If you're scared say you're scared |

| I'm just like grokwik. I can land 3's TS and HS, and I'm working on a HS 7, but I can't even get close on any inverts. I just don't think my body likes being upside down. My buddy can land backrolls and tantrums, but can't get close on 3s. I think some people are just born spinners and others are born invert...ers(?) |

Burgerday- I used to think like that also, spend some time on a tramp you will be bustn' crow's, roll's and tantrums before you know it.
At one time all I could do was HS and TS 3's and starting to work on TS 540's then we got a tramp, I started getting comfortable in the air and started landing HS backroll's left and right.
That was two years ago and have not looked back since, land rolls almost 100% of the time and 3's are like clockwork never miss. Now if I could just dial in that crow I'd be a happy camper, it's like I should be doing the tootsie roll instead or something, I'm whacked.... _________________ PEACE

oops, I said 7 - I meant 5 - my bad
J DOGG - You're probably right, but I don't know anyone with a tramp, and I'm getting REALLY tired of landing on my balls everytime I try an invert. |
