Hi, I am new to wakeboarding....and I'm having an issue i hope some of you can help me correct...I watched multiple videos on how to get up and was able to accomplish this on my second try and every time after...staying up is not much of an issue either as i used to skateboard as a kid so i have the balance thing down....The problem I am having is keeping the board tracking straight...I ride goofy and as everything i found I put the back foot perpendicular to the board and the front foot angled slightly foward. The issue is once up the board wants to constantly ride to the right??? It does not want to track straight???? So i can carve toe side....but once i go back heel side or even just riding directly behind the boat the board wants to point to the right?? I can stay behind the boat....but the board is not pointing straight...it's more like 2'oclock?? Please advise what i'm doing wrong?

You need to work on twisting your body a bit more and getting the handle more in the position of being placed on your hip. Try exaggerating it by really pulling the handle to our hip to get the board straight and get the feel for it. I've also heard of people suggesting only holding on with your lead hand, but I wouldn't do this for too long because you ultimately want to learn how to do it with both hands.

TO add to what Okie said, one of the guys in my crew had that same problem. What he was doing was kind of hunching over the rope, once he learned to twist and keep his back straighter his riding improved by leaps and bounds. If you could get some video it would help us figure out what you are doing wrong, also watching your own videos helps you to see what you are doing wrong.

I will try that.....so you guys think it has nothing to do with foot placement?? I have read once you have learned the basics to position your feet both outward slightly (duck footed)??

After re reading your post I see that you have your back foot at 90 degrees and your front foot angled forward? The common way most of us set up our bindings is duck footed. To get an idea of where to place your bindings, jump in the air and look how your feet are positioned when you land. That will give you a good starting point that you can tweek for comfort from there.

Hard to say anything without video, but you might want to try putting some more weight on your front foot. Does your back leg hurt after a day of riding? Then this is probably the solution. Anyway, video will help a lot! Good luck.

My gf suffered from the same problem. What helped her was letting the handle go with her back hand. This way your body is straight behind the boat and once you get the feeling of riding straight you can try to grab the handle with your second hand without losing your good position on the water.
