Here's my situation. My lakehouse is about 2 and a half hours away and I can only come over like 5 times each summer. So wakeboarding is few and far between, but I would like to try to learn some new stuff. I have been getting better at getting more pop off the wake, but would like to get even more, as I am only landing on the downslope of the 2nd wake about half the time. Also I have the toeside 180 down pretty easy, I land it every time but only over one wake. I can get height on toeside but I can't get very far. Also I have been trying a heelside 180 and I can't stick the landing. It's way too hard of a landing to be able to save and my knees buckle. Also I've tried a few grabs but can't seem to get the concept down. I never get my legs up high enough to grab the board while still worrying about landing the jump.

Here is what I would like help on:

How to go wake to wake on my toeside 180.

Which grabs to try, and off heelside or toeside.

How to get more pop off the wake heelside.

Whether or not I should try a backroll yet, and if that's the first invert to try, and if so, proper technique or your opinion on tips to land it.

How to stick the landing on the heelside 180.

Ok bro first off learn your 180's b4 inverts and ok on 180s start off HS then TS then blind and on grabs start off with a indy which is back hand between ft on TS then tailgrab which is self explanatory ok have fun bro.

basically what i was saying by that is that I've already learned a TS 180 so how do I do a HS 180 without slipping out. I always land off axis, can't hold onto the rope, and fall on my butt. After 5 or 6 times it starts to hurt Laughing

When your spinning, look at the horizon, it will keep you on your axis. You want to keep the rope in towards your hip to keep your balance the whole way. Also, practice your switch jumps. This will help you with your 180's.

You might try getting the higher education or detention videos. They'll really help you out and show you many new grabs, inverts, etc.. good luck

That means that you're:
A: coming off of your edge at the wake
B: spinning the 180 too early

Make sure you edge through the wake, then do the 180 in the air, not by pushing your body into a 180, but by simply pulling the handle across your body. When you land, edge out on your switch ts edge. Riding around switch will help you get comfortable with that.

Toothpick is right if your going off axis go ahead and get into the air and then when stable you can spin and you will stay on axis just wait till your into your jump. The later you spin the more in control your spin will be.

Thanks alot for all your advice. What about grabs? I have watched the detention video but just can't seem to grasp the concept of the grabs. Is there any advice that makes these easier to learn. I tried the Indy but just slap the board. I have trouble bringing my knees up that high while still concentrating on landing the jump. Thanks.

Ok well wakeaholic, you should practice your handle passes on a trampoline or something similar. This will help you get the feel for it. Also do BS Ollie 180s or BS 180s with handlepass to help get the feel for it without having to worry about spinning a full 360. If you can't land switch, then come up switch and practice riding that way to work on your 180.
