This weekend I've been trying to do a HS backroll for the first time (after watching the learn wake video's). Problem I'm having is that my movement in the air doesn't really look like a backroll and I can't land it. It always feels like I'm turning 180° in the air and should land toeside. Hope you can give me some advice.
You need to focus on keeping your elbows pinned to your sides throughout the rotation. You're letting your arms get away from you and it's throwing you off axis. Stop the video at the :12 mark where your board is parallel to the water, you'll see your hands and elbows are out and towards your back hip. This is where your rotation is going bad, being towards the back hip is causing the turn to revert and not being in tight is going to make it hard to get the rotation consistent.
Thanks for the tips, will try the backroll again tomorrow.
About letting the rope go: It was only my second session after a sever concussion. I really need to get my fearlessness back
