| Exactly, if he enjoys it and you guys enjoy it as a family, progress will come pretty naturally. If you want to get him progressing on a path you can always grab the book dvd's or join learnwake so you can see what he should be working on next. If you try to learn those same tricks you can help give him valuable insight when he starts attempting new tricks. |

Have him take a few lessons from a local wakeboard camp. I think that is the best way to get him to progress. hopefully it will teach him the correct technique for riding and doing more tricks. Also getting him around other kids his age he will see what they are doing and at what level they are riding at. all kids are different. I have had 8 year old kids that had multiple inverts and then get burned out by the time they reach highschool. So whatever you do make sure he is having fun no matter what level if riding he is at. _________________ Wakeskating

Now, all of the "having fun" comments aside that I saw that people were already making and that I would say, just based on his age and what he's doing on the water he's well on his way to being a great rider. That kind of start that young means he has already learned how to control the board/water/rope/his body/etc. at a very impressionable age.
The best thing you can do is keep taking him out, and get really stoked when he does cool and/or new stuff. He'll begin to feed off that surge of awesome from learning something new and crave it. _________________ Keep Austin Weird |

I agree with all the above. Why does it matter if your kid is better than others his age? He's 8. There will be plenty of time for him to measure himself against his peers and feel insecure about not being the best rider in the world. For now, let him enjoy it without all that pressure.
Just my two cents. It's your kid. _________________ rally to the wake |

| I think he's doing great for an 8 year old and that's a pretty good bag of tricks he has under his belt. Sounds like he's ready to start working on hsw2w jumps (short rope), 1 wake ts jumps, 1wake heel and toe 180's, and even bs ollie 180's. If he's comfortable riding switch then cab 1 wake 180's as well. If he can nail all or most of these tricks by age 9 or 10 I would consider that pretty decent progression. Keep him at it and above all have fun with it...good luck! |
