| No. That boat looks like it got caught in a tornado and landed in a Russian rave party. |

Hard to say. If everything checks out mechanically I'd probably consider it but would definitely be asking him to take a larger hit on the price. Considering you're in the market of doing repair work on boats it could be a great opportunity to fix it all up while documenting it and use it as your "show" piece for your website or craigslist ads, and also get an awesome wake at the same time. I'm assuming you could even count a chunk of it as a tax write-off if you went down that road.
As a comparison, I've seen an 03 Maristar bring 16k without even having an engine on the dealer auction sites. |

That boat had a rough life and possibly sank, no thanks. _________________

Gelcoat is tricky to deal with if you want it to actually match, you'll need to adjust the tint of the factory color to make it match the actual color of the hull (the color can change slightly over time, and also can change slightly from batch to batch).
My main concern would be the same as Hollywood, it looks like either way it's had a rough life and was probably not cared for very well. _________________ wakeboards

If you pay to get it done, it may cost you about $4k to get the hull back to normal. The bottom of my '92 Sport had some blistering from sitting in salt-water. I had the bottom refinished for $1,200 but the guy under-quoted me and ended up taking a huge hit on it. Everyone else was quoting $4k, and this guy regretted quoting me $1,200.
I looked into doing it myself. It is as serious PITA, and requires a ton of sanding, and a ton of sandpaper. A small spot can be tricky, but the majority of the hull is unreal.
It doesn't look very well cared for either. Who doesn't at least wipe off the floor in the bow before taking the picture? Let some other sucker buy that thing. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

| I would be concerned if it has sunk, and what issues that may bring on an EFI motor, they really don't like water. if you can do the glass work yourself it'll be the cheapest vdrive on the market, and you cna throw a lower offer too. If you are not experienced with glass and gel work I wouldn't touch it. |

i just sent him an email. im going to go look at it tomorow after work. i figured that he bought the boat as a project (see salvage yard markings on the bow), and found out that he is in way over his head. im thinking that he is wanting a boat, i have my 99 bayliner that is worth about 9k and i would be willing to pay about 9k for his boat as long as the engine and tranny is in good shape. we will see what comes of it. _________________ trying to find a $5-7K usable saltare if anyone knows of one. |

Bring stuff for a compression test, check all the fluids (if milky run), bring a fake-a-lake if this guy doesn't have one... Buyer beware, but this could be a project if the price is right.

By the looks of the underneath picture the gelcoat is gone an it's into the layers of glass underneath in some spots. That will be a bit more work than just gelcoat, where you'll have to fill, smooth, then gel, but still something you ought mo be able to handle. One of the pictures indicates it runs. How good and whether everything is all good will be the question. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

Filling in the gel is not that difficult. I actually did that myself. Just putty it up and sand.
Applying Gel is not that difficult. It's the sanding, sanding, sanding that's the tough part. You will have to sand the entire boat 5-6 times over. On the tests I did, I was going through a sheet of orbital sandpaper every 2 sq ft. You're talking about hundreds of sheets of sandpaper and hours on hours of methodical work. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |
