Has anyone ever done a board around?

We were out the other day and we did one (Marine World Style). I was driving and it wasn't really planned. My buddy was just cutting all the way out after a turn and I got the itch and turned back into him. It was the first time I had done it with factory ballast and a phat sack. I used to do them behind outboards when I was a kid on kneeboards and even a skurfer. Has anyone else done them?

No, and I'm not really exacty sure what you're talking about. If you mean driving around the boarder, that seems kinda silly to me. Maybe I'm just missing the point.

It's just speculation - I've got no clue what a board around is either.

If that is what it is then I saw it done at a ski show like 10 years ago, I'm not sure why you would want to do on a wakeboard though.

It's called and 'Around the Boat'. Basically, the boat is headed in one direction, the skier/boarder/foiler cuts out, the boat does a keyhole turn and heads the opposite way. Now both sier/boarder/foiler are headed back the way they came.

edit: OK doesn't seem as hard as I thought. Must be too much ginger in the Ginger Chicken today. But how do you deal with the slack line that turning into the rider will inevitably cause?

And you'd absolutely have to have a pylon or tower or you'd clothesline your driver and spotters... Shocked

Yea the tower is a must. As the rider cuts out and reaches his fastest speed, I pull the throttle all the way back and turn the boat into the rider and power back up going the other way. If the rider keeps cutting away from the boat during the turn he will take out the slack. I think it is pretty fun and people that have never seen it before are pretty amazed.
I used to call it a ski-around and that is why I just changed it to Board around

OK, so it's a pretty tight coordination between rider & driver, sounds like. Maybe my friend and I will try it if I ever put a pole in my I/O. Sounds like it would have giggle-factor at least at first, maybe longer... Very Happy

It is really fun and it will take a few times to get it just right. You just have to make sure that the rope path around the pylon is clear so it doesn't get stuck on the boards, racks, lights, etc

sounds stupid and dangerous. wouldnt the rider sink tho because he has nothing pulling him.

Not too bad as long as you don't hit your rider. Sounds dangerous yea, but remember the rider is in a whip going away from the boatand also on a 70-80ft rope. You just really have to watch for other boats behind you and also in the path of your rider.

Man those skyski guys do that all the time!!! I think that is about as gay as it gets,but that is just MPO.
