Hey guys... have owned an '83 MC Stars and Stripes for a while, as a lot of you know. My wife and I are "this close" to buying an '08 Moomba Mobius LS. It has 24 hours on it if you can believe it. The owner suffered an injury that has kept him from using it too much. The boat is granny kept... flawless condition. What are the opinions here on this boat?

Thanks![/img]

Price? What do you intend to use the boat for?

If you're a wakeboarder, I'd buy an older 205V / X1.

the first thing you are going to want to do is change ALL fluids in the boat. if you can, drain the fuel and run it in your car, truck, lawnmower. over the years of sitting with a half full tank of gas, the ethanol in the fuel has absorbed alot of moisture that will wreak havoc on all the components in the engine. this has happened even if fuel stabilizer has been used. should be a good boat for you a surfable boat is my next big purchase.

GREAT point about the gas... didn't even think of it. We are supposed to go out on it next Sunday for a test run. Is there a "drain" on the tank...or am I sipping gas? Smile

My local dealer has a one owner consignment '09 LSV with 100 hours on it for sale in the high 30's. She also has a brand new '11 Outback that she will sell for invoice, which is like 34k.

Let me know if you're interested. Her number is 423 336 1088. Her name is Joyce. Best lady to deal with ever.

Yes, Moomba is made at the skier's choice plant in Maryville. The boats I posted are about an hour from the plant in Charleston, Tennessee.

As far as family... I have a small one. We are just looking for a good ski / wake boat that can hold more than 5 people... LOL. Actually, more people ski than board, so the DD seemed like it may be a good choice. But again, we haven't even test driven it yet.
The company I work for... we get our mirrors from Maryville. Gilded Mirrors.

small world.

Sounds like you should get someone to pick up one of the boats my dealer has and bring it back to tx for you!

Stang, you have the V-Drive... correct? I see they have a larger "open" area cabin, but the sundeck comes much farther into the boat. I guess the advantage is the wrap around seating... But maint. is a tad more difficult isn't it?

naa maintence is pretty easy. the sides of the motor compartment pop right out. and they put drain hoses on the pan, and oil filter relocaters to make oil changes SUPER easy.

Unless they are competitive skiers don't worry about v-drive vs DD for the wake. The hulls are the same so once you have a few people in the boat the weight distribution will end up similar. The interior lay out of a v-drive is way better, spend the day in one and you won't want a DD anymore. Also resale is a going to be better on the v-drive. Also 31 is too much for that boat, you could buy the LS new in 08 for not much more than that.

really... I thought they were around 40K... with the apperance package... also, '08 dollars were worth more than '11 dollars.

Back in 08 I was quoted 38K for a nicely optioned LSV. I get that dollars aren't the same, just saying that it's a buyers market and they're are some smoking deals out there. This isn't one of them.

Kartman is dead on about needing to flush the fuel, I'd also expect to change the belt and most of the hoses. Stilling dry for a long time like that is a killer for all of that sort of stuff.

Not trying to piss in your wheaties, I just hate to see someone get stuck in a boat that they might out grow in a couple years.

Yep... Mastercraft gone... Mobius in the driveway... This is my first boat with a tower... it is about 6" too tall to get in the garage. The tower folds back toward the stern. I was hoping it would fold to windshield height. I don't dig it in the driveway...so I am thinking of what to do. Maybe a storage... or maybe have a pad layed on the side of the house with awning. I reallw wish it was just 6-8" shorter on height!

Well, all I had to do was throw on an 8" drop hitch once in the driveway and she backed right in! I have a 12" Kicker sub with enclosure coming for under the dash. SHould be installed in time for the weekend!!!
