My family is looking for a new boat. I want a wakeboard boat however my family wants a boat for tubing/skiing because they don't like wakeboarding. I am still trying to convince them to buy a wakesetter/ A22. Unfortunately they want to be able to ski/tube and believe the wakes behind these boats are to big. So I was wondering if the response is a good wakeboarding boat. It doesn't come with ballast but you can upgrade to 400lbs of ballast I heard which still isn't a lot but I figured with the wedge it should help. So more to my point would the response have a good wakeboarding wake or will it be less than satisfactory? Also my sister is 7 would she be able to ski/Tube behind a wakesetter or A22. Thanks for any help really hoping to persuade them to buying a wakesetter however it doesn't seem like it's gonna happen so would the response be the next best thing or is it junky for wakeboarding?

The best crossover boat I have ever driven is the Nautique 200 sport.

What year Response? I rode behind a 2001 Response LS1 closed bow with a wedge and extended pylon for a few years and it worked decently. I'm probably beginner-intermediate in terms of skill level. With the wedge up, the wake was a straight slalom ski wake, but with the wedge down it was comparable to your typical I/O V-hull, maybe *slightly* bigger. Good enough to do your basic tricks behind. I never tried weighing it down with sacs, but I would image the wake would get better. It sits very low to the water, so you wouldn't be able to put too much more weight in unless you were on calm water.

Also, be aware that you cant go above ~24 mph with the wedge down, or the boat will start porpoising.
