So my family is looking for a new boat and I love the wakesetters. The wake is great the run great from my experiences in them, however we are not looking to spend a fortune on one so we were wondering if it be better to buy and '05 Wakesetter VTX or a brand new A20. I've heard lots of great things about the A20 however a lot of people I know say their not as good as wakesetters and to go for the '05. I was just wondering which the majority of people liked better. We will mainly be wake boarding/wake skating behind it how ever my sister occasionally skis and when friends come out the enjoy tubing so my family wants a boat that is really good for wake boarding that will still pull skis/tubes. Would it be better to buy a brand new axis boat or a used wakesetter?

IMO the a20 wake is better. The a20 offers a better tower. You will get a warranty with a new boat. If financing, rates will be better on a new boat. I ride behind an a20 and an a22 often. Love them both.

That being said, the vtx is a very nice boat.

Try asking this question on the Axis forum. I have never read anything about the Axis ski wake .

Oh, the Axis ski wake is not going to be steller. Those boats were designed for wakeboarding.

The VTX was actually on our boat shortlist when we upgraded last year, but we decided against it because it was too small (probably not a concern in your case since the A20 is similar in size).

I think for ocassional skiers, the A20 wake will probably work out just fine. I know that our A22 wake cleans up around 32mph well enough to make my brother and a few other skiers happy with it, and I suspect the A20 would be similar. It's certainly not going to be as good of a ski wake as the Response, but I would put it on par or better than the VTX.

Given the choice between a new A20 and a 6 year old VTX, I would probably go with the A20 for the reasons Chatt mentioned above. You really can't go too wrong with either however.
