|
|
| So I am interested in possibly building a cable park in South Carolina. I was wondering if any of you have done it, what exactly is involved, how much capital is needed, etc. I remember watching a youtube video a while back of the making of a cable park and seeing that is very involved (can't seem to find that video). But would like to get yalls input on this... |

I'd start with contacting Rixen and Sesitec I think. Huge part of the cost will be buying the grounds where you want to build it (if you don't own it yet) and possibly digging a lake.
I *think* I heard that a 2-tower system costs around $35k, and a 4-tower system like $100K. Might be total bullsh!t though. _________________ FlyZone Wakeboarding Costa Rica |

Contact the guys over at http://www.thewakeparkproject.com/ and they can probably give you some great advice (basically Sesitec I think). The website is great though and has a bunch of info on it. Good luck. It's a HUGE initial investment but with popularity growing and the likelyhood of you being first in the area, it may be a good time to try it!
Also, permitting can be difficult and take forever. Hopefully the Wake Park Project can offer advice on that.
Edit: Also, just rough numbers, you probably won't be able to get started for less than $1 million. |

The cable, 6 towers, set up motor ect. cost approx 500k. Dirt is going to cost $3/ CY to move onsite. I just finished designing one near Houston. _________________ There'll be two dates on your tombstone/ And all your friends will read 'em/ But all that's gonna matter is that little dash between 'em... |

| vette74 not to hijack the thread but my family owns a body of water and the property around it and were asking for suggestions on what to do with it. How big is too big for a cable park??? I'm talking about the body of water not the overal property size. |

Lawdog, I really don't know the max size the one that we did was just a hair over 1000' long. I assume that if you put more towers you can go as long as you want. _________________ There'll be two dates on your tombstone/ And all your friends will read 'em/ But all that's gonna matter is that little dash between 'em... |

lawdog2131, do a google maps overview on some of the existing cable parks to see how big they are. You should be able to get size from the scale they post. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

| The size of the body of water is about 50-55 acres I think. The deepest part is 40 ft. It used to be a gravel pit that hit a natural spring and filled. The property is owned on my wifes side of the family. Like I said my in-laws are looking for ideas in which we can utilize the water to make money as well as the outer (dry land) property. They already have a couple buildings they rent out to other businesses as well as a gas station. Anyway I suggested a cable park but not sure on the start up cost or whether or not the property is too big. |

| I wish someone would build a cable park up in Michigan. I know the weather is terrible but once summer hits and the weather turns I think people would show up. |

lawdog2131, That would be way to big even if you bought the 25 towers or so to go all the way around what would happen if you wrecked on the backside you would have to walk 55 acres to get back no thanks.
Just install a 2.0 along one of the banks. _________________ There'll be two dates on your tombstone/ And all your friends will read 'em/ But all that's gonna matter is that little dash between 'em... |

just an idea..
we have electric winches (with permanent options and driverless options) starting at 3600
at that rate you could put in around 12 winches for the price of one s2.0
thats 12 riders vs one
better use of you water space
more capital left over for insurance, features, building a lake
plus you could set up lines from beginner to advance and place features accordingly
imagine a batting cage style winch park , insert a token, hit the button and shred
give us a shout if your interested
