I have a 2000 maxum and its been pretty good for wakeboarding, but im getting alot better and need a bigger wake... I was looking at ballast bags but the little sticker thinger says it can only hold 1075lb with people and gear.. That seems kind of low, and probably is but all these ballast bags are like 500-1000lb each??

Will ballast bags work for this boat? and if any would, which ballst bag(s) would yall reccomend??

Thanks, and Have a Nice Day (=

Optimus-I got 2 Aerial ballast bags + pump for $120 including shipping off eBay. Each bag is 350lbs when full. I put one in my ski locker and one in the bow. If I have 5 people in the boat then I only use one of the bags so as not to be way over the weight capactiy.

If you use ballast bags you will sink.

/end thread/

But seriously, we run 2500+lbs in my buddy's 'bu, plus 3 guys and a bunch of chicks. I wouldn't worry about it.

Ya don't worry about the weight rating unless you are stoped by lake patrol. My boat was rated for 1300 or so and i had way over 2500 plenty of times. Try to hide the sacks so it won't matter even if you get pulled over. That boat will need a lot of weight in the bow to make a good wake. I would jump all over the redtagsports deal. Those are mid grade bags that have a couple of nice features over the aerial bags. The spring loaded valves are a must for keeping things dry in the boat. The molded in handles will come in nice too. I had 4 of the aerial bags and they are pretty much crap if you are going to be using them a lot. After the bags are filled its like trying to screw a spray nossle onto a garden hose that is on....not fun. The cover straps broke after a coulple of times moving around also. 1600lbs of ballast with a good pump....cant beat that. Its always better to have too much weight than not enough.

^^^^ Can't you just use a check valve in between the pump and outlet on the bag? I remember seeing that somewhere....
