Hi guys,
I'm planning to get a new board but i can't decide if i should get the LF Shane LTD Hybrid or the LF Harley Grind.
So i was wondering if some of you are riding one of these boards and can give me some advice..
I'm gonna be riding boat and cable (50/50)...

| Yeah, the main thing here is flex - shane is flexy, harley - not =) I'm definitely going for shane as soon as local dealer gets it in his store)

| i'm about to get the harley, but i have some concerns with my knees. would getting a flex board be better on my knees? i jump from kickers a lot, so a lot of flat landings..

In theory, yes, a flex board would make your landings softer and put less strain on your knees. The Harley is a really stiff board, and I love it for boat riding because the stiffness gives ridiculous pop off the wake, but landings in the flats feel harsh to me.

| aha.. damn! maybe i should revisit my choice then! i have a really weak patella tendon that has been torn before. maybe a ronix bill with some frank boots would be steezy then haha!

I'm thinking about getting into cable riding, so I've been looking at flex boards that are great behind the boat. From all the reviews/info I've read, two stand out: the O'brien Paradigm and the Slingshot Hooke. You might wanna try one of those. I know I'd like to hear your opinion if you do!

| mm ok! We have no Slingshot dealers over here (the netherlands).. Obrien i'm no fan of! my last one crumbled into pieces.. i really like the ronix and LF quality and durability! LF FLX looks like an option too!

I guess im gonna go with the Shane Ltd Hybrid as I prefer to have some flex, it seems that the Harley is a very stiff board..

yo, so i talked with some experienced riders at the park and they told me to steer away from flatbottomed flex board and that i would have softer landings with the harley since it has way more channels. thoughts?

Ya. All boards companies say that. If you read a lot of those descriptions, you'll see that they claim their continuous rocker boards pop like 3-stage boards, their 3-stage boards are as fast and smooth as continuous boards, etc. No company will ever list negative qualities of its boards in these descriptions.
The Harley's landings are rough IMO. Don't take my word on that, and DEFINITELY don't take LF's word. Try it for yourself.

Absolutely. It all depends on how you ride the board. Most slingshot riders out there go HUGE at the cable and land with no problems and those boards are COMPLETELY flat, the Shane at least has a little contour. It really comes down to your style and how you're going to be riding.

| GnarShredd, did you get to try the harley? i can only try it on the cable and then i cant hit the kickers.. i cant do tricks from the loaded line just yet so i wont be able to test the actual landings. sucks..

The Shane is one of those hybrid boards. It will be stiffer than a true flex board but softer than a traditional board. I assume it will be plenty stiff enough for wake riding, just like the Watson Hybrid.

you were right.. i found the board stiff! and didnt pop easy waisthigh ollies like my witness,and didnt turn as fast. tried the Jobe Guerilla, way to flat, even with fins. watson hybrid was really good except i find it still very slippery without the fins.. maybe some sliderfins (i almost only ride cable) would help...
i think i'm sticking with my trusted witness grind though, or just getting a new 2011 witness grind.

Not a bad idea maybe. Over the last few years I rode the Watson (now classic), S4, Harley and now Witness, which is my favorite of 'm all.

I got to ride the Shane hybrid board for a day at the cable here, so I can pass along some insight. I haven't rode the harley though.
The shane was suprisingly "not flexy" basically. It has a spine on the board similar to like a witness i believe, so it doesn't flex nearly as much as the Watson Hybrid, Henshaw, or FLX. I personally wanted some flex so I didn't like it a whole lot, but the board is still really fun and rode very well for rails, kickers, and air tricks. I would imagine it would ride pretty sick behind boat.
