I need a pair of boots for this upcoming long weekend, and I found a pair of 2010 Divides...wanted to know if they're any good.
Being Ronix, I'm sure its quality workmanship but, do I need to worry about the boot tearing up from use?
Are they comfy?
Will it fit my 2006 Hyperlite Priemer?
Thanks |

| And hows the tool-less setup? Does it hold? |

For OT bindings, they're not bad, but they feel way less comfortable and supportive than a nice pair of CT bindings. Quality is an issue with these. The waterfront program at my school went through two pairs of them in a matter of months. Obviously, they got more wear than your average bindings because a lot of different people were using them, but it was still unacceptable. Buyer beware in my humble opinion. _________________ rally to the wake |

When you say the school went through two pairs, do you know why? Was it damage from the inside or out?

I haven't ridden very many different bindings. In terms of OT, the Divides are a lot more comfortable than the awful CWB Sevens I used to have. I haven't ridden the Kais.
I know that Ronix has a reputation for making the best bindings in the industry, and that reputation may well be deserved. My friends ride Ronix Ones (2010) and love them, but I have seen exceptions.
The school went through two pairs because the mounting hardware failed (either the screw or the screw hole got stripped and the boot wouldn't hold its angle on the board) and the laces tore multiple times. We kept tying them together and putting on all kinds of clips and generally ghetto rigging them, and our solutions would hold for a couple of days, but they kept tearing and eventually we gave up and got new ones, which also tore.
I'm not sure how common hardware stripping is. We were riding in salt water, so that may have been a contributing factor.
As for the laces, I'd seen that before. The laces on my 2008 Ronix Ones snapped when I went to cinch them tight after only a couple of weeks of riding. They were made of a very thin, stretchy material, and apparently they weren't made to be cranked down on.
I don't know about you, but I think a good binding should have sturdy laces, like my new Harleys, which have much thicker laces than the old Ones. It may or may not have been my fault that I broke them, but that's shoddy quality if you ask me. I really expected better from Ronix.
Just my two cents. Hope that helps. _________________ rally to the wake |
