Just got our Axis A22, love it so far, but I need help tuning the wake.
It is too peaked and almost falling over where we are hitting the wake at right now at 24.4MPH and just a 70' rope!

We have been riding w all bags filled and PnP ballast, no power wedge though.

We have control over Front, Center, and Rear tanks.

FYI, we are also in Salt Water (slightly less displacement)

Check the attached pic. I am hoping to push the crest further back. Only at 70ft now, has to be a way to send the wake back with weighting. 24MPH should be fast enough...

how do you have the weight distributed right now? rule of thumb is 60% back 40% front

It is the factory+pnp setup, not sure how it is distributed. Any input as to where to add/remove weight to have a longer wake?

sprfrkr, in general, adding weight to the bow cleans up the wake. Really it's all about experimenting to figure out what works best for your boat/crew.

In my VLX we run stock balast + ~800 in the bow with the wedge at about 3/4.

Also if you have access to a GPS, check to make sure that your speedo is correct.

I think your speedo is off. Wake looks wicked wide from that picture, so speed it up. I ride 75 feet at 24.2mph (calibrated) and it's still not washing over, in salt, until 85 or so. We run stock + PnP 750's in the back, 750 up front, plus a 550lb bag in the bow, no wedge.

I know the speedo on the Axis A22 that I rode last summer was way off, I rode at like 26-27mph on their speedo when it was probably 23-24, so I would guess that is the biggest culprit. Check with a GPS and see what it says

Thanks guys! Ahhh! I'm hoping the speed is the culprit. I'm coming off a perfect pass boat which used GPS so I took the Axis speedo for its word. I knew it felt a little slow, I just thought it was the shorter rope.

Ya, that sounds about right. The axis wakes are suppossed to be known for being clean at slower speeds. If you were actually going about 21 that would probably be about right.
