Do you just have it attached to a helmet? Try making a mount to attach it to some kind of pole for a closer shot.

yeah its just on the head mount, i'm a little nervous about hitting it/the rope hitting the pole and having the camera/pole go into the water =) but im sure i can find a way

pu a buoy key fab float thing on it/ around the case then if you drop the pole or it gets ripped off the pole it will float, and was this in 1080p mode?

nope it was 960 mode and good idea!

yeah ive seen these little handles that are pretty much a foam bike handle with a goporo style hook up on the end, thought one of the ski pole mounts with a noodle wrapped around it would work well, is the 960 mode 170 degrees or 110 like 1080, i only ever use 1080 or 720x 60fps
