Will background in water ski, snow boarding and surfing makes one a better athlete at wake boarding? Or will it depend on the boat? Many thanks _________________ Im 26, I'm female and I love to learn |

No to water skiing, sort of, but yes to the others.
Snowboarding you lean down the hill, on your front foot a lot and you can push down on your toes with one foot and lift with the other for turns. In wakeboarding, it's both lifting and you can't twist the board like a snowboard.
Surfing will help because you learn to edge.
Being pulled by a boat is so much different than the others but it not something that will be something out of the norm if you can ski. Just don't use a ski rope AND DO NOT let your knees flex when you hit the wake... like you would when you water ski.
Oh, and don't use the over / under hand on the handle like when you ski. Both hands should be palms down on top of the handle. |

I would say water skiing would help you with the technique to get out of the water. balancing against the rope/skies/board.
The others will definitely help, surfing more-so than snowboarding. You are already used to riding sideways which is difficult for most people. Just make sure once your up to hold the handle at your front hip so that way the rope is not pulling you into a face-plant.
The boat will start to make a difference when you start jumping. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

Yes to both........I waterskied for 20+ years before I wakeboarded. Everyting from the pull form the boat itself to using the handle and edging the board were all helped from skiing first. Biggest change was how you stand on the board. _________________ www.slobgear.com
