Sooo another stereo amp question...

My friend is convinced that his amp get messed up due to condensation and the elements around a boat because the amps are still plugged into the battery and holding current some where. Sounds plausible. So i suggested he installed a 40amp breaker intead of the inline fuse. One of those breakers you can trip manually, which would essentially cut the power cable from giving power to the amps under you re engage it.

Something like this:

Suggestions?

Yup, good idea.

The amps should be powered through an isolator anyway which should be shut down each time you leave the boat but if they aren't then a breaker is totally acceptable.

I prefer 1 switch to hit rather than many though..

I still need to run a fuse, so i figure instead of switch and fuse i could use these breakers. I will have a Stinger 200amp isolator hooked up between the 2 batteries when i install the 2nd battery. How exactly do you shut down an isolator? Just unhooking the wires?

An isolater has a switch... an 'isolating relay' is a different thing. Think you might have got the two confused?

You should have an isolator between the battery and anything that is drawing power from it.
