Ok, I know I'm going to get panned for even asking this question, but does anyone here tow with an MDX?

Before the flames start, hear me out. I have a '99 Malibu at 2900lbs (probably about 4500 with gear and trailer I'm guessing). I tow about 5 miles to the lake. It's pretty flat and only hit 50mph for a short stretch. I have an '02 Yukon right now that is rated at 5k tow capacity. The MDX has the same capacity. The wheelbase of the MDX is 11" shorter, so I know that will be a factor.

Just looking for smaller options to replace my Yukon. Also thinking about a used Touareg or X5. Then again, the new Durango looks possible, too.

We tow our response with an MDX, does fine on hills and is suprisingly pleasant to tow with.

That's good to hear. I think the response is about 500lbs less than my Sunsetter, so not that big of difference.

Oh man, can I tell you a story about that hill. When I first picked up my boat, I had to pull it up that hill. Was driving a V6 Silverado, and almost didn't make it to the top.

Luckily, now I'm just a straight shot down 620 to Steiner.
