Review from a Wakeboarder:
I just bought a Bongo Board but I've also used the Indo Board. Before buying the Bongo I was researching which board would be better for keeping my wakeboard balance and muscles conditioned through the long winters. I wanted something that was fun to use as well, rather than just solely using workout machines.
After searching online for almost a week I gave up on finding a decent comparison review, written by someone who’d used both. I ended up deciding on a Bongo board based on some insights I made while researching the two. Anyways I'm glad I got the Bongo board because it was a better choice for what I wanted.
First, the Bongo Board is designed more like a wakeboard with its skateboard like deck. Where as the original Indo has a more Skim Board design, you can find Indo boards that are designed with a skateboard deck but they seem to be less common (finding a deal on a used board might be tough).
Second, the Bongo Board is placed on a roller that has tapered edges. This allows the board to have some heal-toe rock. For obvious reasons this is more like a wakeboarding than the Indo Board can provide with its flat roller.
Third, the Bongo Board roller is actually made up of two independently turning sides. This allows for 360'ing the board and roller. The Indo board will allow you to do this but as you turn, the roller does not turn with you. This presents a shorter rocking ability when the board is situated parallel with the roller.
Although this does not have to do with whether it is better for wakeboarding or not, I thought it was a point to put in here. The Bongo board has a strap that keeps the roller from shooting out from under the board, like the roller under the Indo board can sometimes do. This makes the Bongo board less likely to damage things around the house. The strap does not inhibit the rolling motion of the board. On a side note, although I have not tried this yet, I've read that the strap can be removed to allow the board to lift off the roller.
Hopefully this helps anyone wondering what the comparison is between the two boards, coming from someone who has used both.
