So I recently got a GoPro camera and I tried shooting some footage off a tube but it was extremely bumpy and shakey. The lake was calm so I know it's the tube. Is there anyway to make it less shaky? Only thing I could think of was letting some air out but not sure
Here is my video

I think I fixed it now. Would standing on my knees really help? _________________ Mitchell Militia

Getting on your knees will allow your body to absorb more of the shakes so you can hold the camera more steady.
Letting some of the air out of the tube will allow it to absorb some of the shaking as well.
And I've heard that using music without all the annoying auto-tune might help, too. _________________ www.TheLiquidPlayground.com

who dock starts like that?
jk...
Get a pole and the handle bar mount, and attach it to the top of the pole and hold that up while on your knees. _________________ stay clean, like me

What Scotta, and PD2 said. You need to add some weight to the camera so that it doesn't jolt on every bump. A Metal pole, mount and handle would stabilize the shot a lot. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

Yeah I didnt think about that aspect and with the GoPro weighing less a few pounds, it showed every bump _________________ Mitchell Militia

I put mine on a ~4ft piece of sch 20 3/4" PVC with the handlebar mount, and wrapped it in the pipe insulation foam. It floats no problem, but I tied the bolt that mounts directly to the camera case to a water bottle as a backup in case the handlebar mount breaks off.
I don't think you'd need to make the whole shebang heavier if you sat on your knees. The tube will be shaky from the prop wash, but if you get your arms and the camera mount off it, it will smooth out. |

We made a video last summer using a GoPro and a tube, but we used a spray painting pole and attached the camera to the end but upside down on the bottom using the helmet mount straps. With it being on the bottom it helps with camera stability, just make sure to switch the view on the camera to UpsideDown.
Heres the pole, but we took off the wheel.
Heres the video.
