I have and moomba outback. The dealer told me that it needed to be filled with mid octane fuel. I normally fill up at a service station with mid octane (89). One time I filled up on the lake and they only had regular or premium, I got premium and my boat seemed to run a lot better I noticed an increase in top speed. I was just wondering what other people put in their boats. I heard a rumor that gas that you pump on the lake is watered down, does anyone know if this is true? One more: When I fill my boat at a gas station sometimes it will not accept gas even when I know it is empty the pump keeps clicking off.

the higher the octane the better and cleaner the boat will run...to a certain point..like say 95....but running 91 or 93 would be ideal...as far as the pump shutting off...dont put the nozzle in so far Rolling Eyes

I use 93.

1) Gas on the lake is not "Watered" down. If there was water in your gas you would know it. Boat would run like shizzle. Then you will need to put STP gas treatment (or equivalent) to evaporate the water.

2) When the pump cuts off while you are filling an empty tank can be a couple of different things. a) filling tank too fast and gas is triggering the auto shutoff, b) the Auto shutoff is too sensitive, c) try not squeezing the lever all the way...only squeeze about 1/4 or 1/2 way and gradually increase untill it cuts off; then you can go back to that spot right before it cut off...I believe your problem is that you are pumping too fast and gas is triggering the Auto shutoff.

what i found on my boat when filling it instead of putting the nozzle in like you would to fill your truck gas tank, i have to rotate it 180.o then i can fill it fast so try that . and i have to shove it all the way in.

Sometimes the pump clicks off when filling my SAN. I just pull the pump out of the gas intake about an inch and it fills just fine...
