|
|
We are boat shopping for this summer, and looking for a used wakeboard boat that can throw a good wake. We are using it in TN, so looking in TN-NC area, but we also have a house in FL so we are looking there as well. So far these are on our list:
(1) 2003 Super Air Nautique Team Edition ~300-400 hrs all freshwater
(2) 2006 Centurion Cyclone C4 w/ triple ballast, wakeplate, tower speakers etc ~200 hrs freshwater
(3) 2004 Tige 22v limited w/ 1500 lbs ballast, tower speakers, etc ~400 hrs not sure if fresh or salt
We have also tried to look at some Moombas, like 2003 mobius lsv, but there doesn't seem to be many on the market.
Does anyone have any recommendations? There were also a few 2002 Mastercraft XStars, but both seemed unreasonably priced vs. the others. We want a good deal, and the centurion and Tige seem to be reasonable with what NADA says but the SANTE is a few thousand above, so we probably will only go for that if we can negotiate down. Centurions seem to have nice boats from what I've seen, but not as much of a reputation (or more of a reputation for surf vs. wakeboard) so I'd like to know what people think of them.
We of course are going around seeing the boats in person, having mechanic inspect, etc. Also we don't want a boat that has touched salt water, it just does terrible things to a boat.
Finally if anyone knows anyone selling a V-drive wakeboard boat in the mid-$20k range (freshwater only) in FL or in the TN-NC area (we live near Boone) we'd consider looking at it. |

#1 is the best choice; (1) 2003 Super Air Nautique Team Edition ~300-400 hrs all freshwater
Best wake IMO of any boat in the wake to shred behind.
Stay the heck away from that Centurion no matter what you do. |

Just wondering why you say stay away from the Centurion Cyclone? I've read around and people seem to have good things to say about it.
A big factor is price--right now the SANTE is listed quite a bit above the suggested NADA value and it's really only an option if they bring the price down to something reasonable.
Also looking at a 2005 Mobius LSV... |

| I found two 2002 Mastercraft XStars and they both have about 400-600 hrs and are listed around $27.5k-28k. That seems really overpriced. I suppose I could offer lower... |

Take a look at Supra 22SSVs as well. With GG sacks, the wake is great. Should be able to find a 2004 for mid-20s. Sangers aren't too common except for the west coast, but the V215 is a great boat for a good price as well. I'm not all that familiar with Malibu's but the '03 or '04 VLX should be in that price range.
I would avoid pre-2003 Moombas as their quality was pretty bad until Skiers Choice bought them around that time.
I've never been a fan of Centurions or Tige. Hard to say why. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

| Thanks Chattwake, but I looked at their inventory and I think the 2004 Supra they have is listed at $37k which is way above my price range. |

so your price range is mid 20's If I go back to grade three that would be 25k then is what your budget is?
The mastercrafts you saw were 27.5 and 28? Offer him 25k and buy it for 26k. Spend the extra grand and get by far the best wake, although I do like the SAN's. If they didn't have that trough at the wake... when you miss going wake to wake it about kills the knees and back, but that's the boat I would have bought. In the end the Xstar/X-2/X-1 is hands down IMO the best wake. for an extra 1k you should have bought that yesterday.... _________________ Don't do anything rash.....and don't do anything to get a rash... |

Yup. However, those Xstars seem over priced. |

| If you want a serious wake go SAN. If you want a fresher boat and want to surf a good bit on regular side, I would go with the Cent. |

Im looking in the same price range.
I haven't seen any 03 SAN TE in that price range. Ive found a 2006 x1 with high hours, and a 2002 xstar with lower hours... but im also only looking for a SAN or X1x2xstar _________________ stay clean, like me
