|
|
| My new board should be in within a few weeks so I have been researching to figure out the correct placement of the bindings. I see that there are different ways depending on your skill level to set them up at different degrees and different spacing/placement on the board. My thinking is that if i go ahead and set them up in a neutral stance at 9 degrees on both feet in the middle of the board (ehow.com), even though they say it's an advanced set up, my skill would build up to that instead of learning on one style then having to change it. so really my question is, if i set it up at more of an advanced level, would it do more harm that good to my progress? |

| nope. duck them at at least 9 and put them out as wide as possible unless you are very short and all the way out feels/looks like you are doing the splits. |

When you say "duck" them, do you mean heels closer together than your toes yea? Also, do i need to be mindfull of where they are placed in terms of the center of the binding being closer to the toeside or heelside, or place them directly in the center and then adjust them to the 9 degrees?
thanks for the advice |

Yes you want to set them up centered toe/heel side wise, also centered nose/tail wise. Duck is heels closer together. To find a starting point for binding set up use the jump test. Basically jump strait up in the air and look at how you land naturally, take note of your stance angles and distance and tweak from there for comfort. _________________

| I second what JeffreyCH said...it shouldn't hurt you to go ahead and place your bindings at equal angles and distances from the tip and tail of the board. It will allow you to become accustomed to a normal stance from the beginning. Wider stances are more the norm these days. I prefer a wider stance because I feel like having more of the board under me and less on the ends to control outside of my stance provides extra stability and ease with grabs, etc. |

Thanks for the input guys, I'd rather hear it from you than how.com My board still isn't here however and i'm getting anxious. It's been 3 weeks but i think the tsunami stuff in Mainland has caused some delays. Guess I should be greatful though that this is my only effect of the disaster... still ready to get it though in any case. |
