|
|
Hey guys i just want some opinions on the new liquid force s4. I've been given a good offer of 300$ for a new one but i wanted to see if it was worth it.
Main things I'm looking for is huge pop. I definately don't mind going into the flats depending on the trick. For spins I'll stay in the wake but for anything like grabs and raleys I fly as high and far as I can get but I want high and long air as well!
I've also looked at the older 09 and 10 models of boards such as the watson classic, the marek, murray, monarch and others. But this was just a good deal on the brand new 2011 that someone gave me.
Is it worth it? I know there have been a lot of love hate relationships with the s4 in past years models. I only ask because I'm Ohio and I can't demo so I have to go off research and opinions.
Thanks for any help!!!

I can't vouch for the ride of the board because it has a different rocker than the 2009 S4 I demoed a few days ago, but I will say that $300 for a brand new LF pro model is a pretty good deal.

I just bought a new LF board. I talked to the guys at LF about which board to get telling them basically the same thing you're looking for in a board. I told them I was looking for a step up from my PS3 and I'm interested in pop and w2w tricks. They told me to get the Watson. They said "the Watson is the ultimate wake to wake board, it will launch you like you wouldn't believe."
If in doubt, just talk to the guys at LF. They were very helpful for me. My new Watson board arrives in a couple of days, can't wait!

I have the '10 model S4 and love it. Awesome pop
If you are not use to riding a loose board it will take some time getting use to, but not long.

I got the same advice from my local board shop. I wanted to demo the Shane but they told the Watson has the most pop.

Yah everyone says the watson is just an awesome board and if I had the same deal I'd probably go to that. But from the looks of the s4 it has a lot of speed which I really like and I can't go wrong with the price. I love going into the flats but still flying high and I think the soven fits that nicely. And Brian I don't mind a loose board. I ride with the fins off because I loved the loose feel. It's nice to hear you like it. Is it the same shape as this year or did they change it?

If you like a loose board (I do) you should really like the S4. It's definitely loose and it rides great with no center fin.

I rode the s4 for a few laps at Wake Nation here in Ohio so I can definitely vouch for the board. Do you ever come out to Wake Nation? If so I ride there pretty much daily, I have probably met you.
In my opinion, the aspect of just wanting "huge pop" you can get from almost any current liquid force board, or any advanced level board for that matter. The s4 will definitely give you that though.
As opposed to what the TheHebrewHammer said, it is NOT a loose board. That thing has some pretty big molded in fins, which is not necessarily a bad thing at all, but the board is NOT loose (even without a center fin). Come to thing of it, I do not even think there is an option for a center fin on the s4 is there? Not that it matters, you won't need it.
For 300, that is a great deal. The s4 will be a board you can progress on like crazy and do just about anything on from wake to wake jumps to mobe 5s.
And if you do want to demo a board, you can probably come out to Wake Nation and demo it. I know the liquid force rep and he would be more than willing to hook that up. But you aren't going to find much of a better deal than 300.

Thanks so much for the help colefooter thats much appreciated! I agree I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this because I don't think I'm going to get a deal like this anywhere else. Yes I've been to wakenation once and would love to come again. I am actually going to be attending University of Cincinatti next fall (at least I'm pretty sure I've been accepted and deciding) so I will probably be there all the time!! I really want to join UC's wakeboard team and I know they hang there a lot so I will probably see you there!

| colefooter, agreed. I highly disagree with the 2 posts saying the S4 is loose. Its one of the tightest boards that I have ridden. Not really my taste (ride a Lyman, its medium looseness), but its great if thats what your into. Great pop/release, good w2w board IMO, but yea definitely not loose.

That makes sense that it's not very loose. I was looking at the deep molded fins and wondered how that could be but thats okay... It still sounds like a great board and I definately can't go wrong with the price!!

Not sure what y'all are on about, but I must be wrong about the looseness. Maybe the fins have gotten more aggressive in the last 2 years, as the 2009 model I rode spun surface 360s and butterslides easily and didn't catch on me once.

The s4 is an awesome shape. I would highly reccomend it. Personally I think its the best rounded board on the market as far as boat/cable boards go.

| I rode a 2010 s4 fly last year and it was really loose. I liked the board alot, but it was too loose for me. I've got a 2011 Shane on the way.
