Hey all,
I'm researching info about wakeboarding boots, and trying to figure out some of the terminology.
Can I ask, what does "BOA" stand for? I know it's a closure system involving "mechanical cranks," but does anyone know what the actual letters stand for?
Also, is there any standardized method for measuring the flex/stiffness? On the websites where you shop for them, it seems pretty subjective. (evo.com has a "1-5 stiffness scale", which seems pretty arbitrary.)
Thanks for any help! |

Boa Technology (or the idea of Boa) was born in 1998 by Gary Hammerslag when he took up snowboarding. He couldn't stand pulling so hard on the laces and the imprecise fit that too often resulted. He thought there had to be something better. So he developed the BOA system.
But I cannot find what BOA stands for. _________________ Wakeskating

| oceandoot, I'm not sure that it necessarily stands for anything. I think the name just comes from the similarity to a Boa Constrictor snake that squeezes its prey. |

I've heard alot of people complain about BOA and I dont get it, I use BOA on my wake and snowboards, only once did the cable pull out of the crank, guess what, you take a small torx driver, insert it in the "O" then unscrew the case, the cables use set screws so you simply put the cable back in and tighten it down, put the cover back on and problem solved, I will always ride BOA _________________ ☆PHOENIX WINCH☆
