length - 21 feet, beam 96" hp on that year (like any year is dependent on the motor) but it is prolly 265 or 285 with the mercruiser magnum 350
the wakeboard wake is awesome and the boat is identical to the current "wakesetter" model with the exception of engine and some graphics and a couple other cosmetic type mods. |

driftwood pretty much nailed it.
I love the boat, I have owned a Moomba's, Nautiques, and a Tige but this boat has been my favorite and the wake has been the best. I haven't put a wedge on this one yet (been thinking about it, my dealer quoted me $600 installed) if you do get a wedge make sure its the new model wedge, it was redesigned for the type of hull this boat has (same as the wakesetter). We run right around 2000lbs of ballast in our and the wake is at my knees (im 5'11) 75 feet back going around 22-23mph. very solid wake, easy to make it rampy or steep depending on your preference, i like mine steep personally. even with this much ballast in the boat it barely sinks it, my ski deck is just under water level with ballast fully loaded.
The boat all so drives great in choppy water, ours never bounces and no rattles.
If your going to be running as much weight as us, get a 4-blade prop. Made a huge difference, I cant even tell there is weight in the boat with the new prop. gets to speed very fast. |

it already has the old wedge, I actually really liked the old wedge on my friends 96 response. Also, does the new wedge go on the same mount as the old one?
How do you position your 2000#?
The boat owner said that they usually just ran the wedge but when they wanted it big they just put another 500# in the bow and it got really big.

the old style wedge is still used on the response, it has a different hull than the sunsetter and waksetter's. So the way it affects the wake is different on each boat. The sunsetters wake is way bigger than the response your going to love it. A good friend of mine owns a malibu dealership, he is the one that told me what type of boat to buy. Took me awhile to find my sunsetter, had to drive 12 hours to go get it. Plus they are easy to sell if you ever have to, currently the owner of the shop is looking for some, he has about 10 people wanting the same boat.
Yes, I do believe the new wedge will fit your current mounting brackets. The only difference in it that i know of is the shape of the wedge, the new one has more of a v in the shape, and the pins that lock it down are easier to work. You should check out malibuboatowners.com in the tech section is an article on how to put a trap door on your teak swim deck for easy access to lower and raise the wedge. A good friend of mine swears by the wegde, but it is made to be used with more ballast, thats what the owner of my boat shop said. He runs a 700lbs sac in the back and a ski locker sac with wedge down.
It really is a great boat though, i highly recomend it.
one more thing, the back seat can raise up and become a sundeck, we leave it in this position to put sacs under. There is also a trunk in the back behind the seat, but dont put more than one hundred pounds in the trunk as the gas tank is under it, i put two 50lbs sand bags in mine wrapped in a garbage back and a lot of duck tape. One fat sac under back seat 700#, 2 550# sacs in the back running long ways backed up to the back seat, and 200#'s worth of sand bags in the front under the seat plus people, its still planes real easy and the nose doesnt hardly raise at all on take off, i just like thick steep wake. im going out this sunday, if you would like ill take some pics of the wake |
