My 2003 SSV has some serious vibrations in the steering when I throttle from a stop and the wheel is positioned left and straightened to the right. Is this normal?
My 2001 mobv had the vibrations and I talked with the dealer. They said it was normal with the rack and pinion steering. I have seen a previous discussion on here indicating it is a common issue including (I believe) a response from Skiers Choice.
I changed to a acme prop this year and it seems like the vibration is much less. I don't see how this could be the case.
Saw a couple boats come through here with that same problem. One thing you can try to do is tighten up your rudder. You will need to take a floor jack and put up under the rudder and apply some preesure to the bottom of it. Don't go lifting the boat up or anything like that, just some medium pressure. Once that jack is in place, climb into the boat and tighten the rudder down. I have seen this help many of the vibrations....good luck and let us know if it helped. _________________ Bill Reynolds
