Hi all Im 15 years old and in grade ten i have a CWB Hood and i love it. I was just wondering if i should take of the two huge fins on it or not. I was also wondering if it is a good board for beginners. Ive ridden it a couple times this past summer. Thanks. |

The fins are there to add stability... I think the "better" riders take them off. I reackon it depends on when you are comfortable. _________________ '08 Mobius LS |

I would definitely keep them on till you get better. They keep you stable and provide better tracking. I am still using the fins on my board. |

I rode twice on my board with them on and then yanked them off... there is a significant difference. The board will become very slippery and you'll need to rely on your edges more than those fins to help you steer.
Where abouts in Ontario are you? I'm just a puddle jump from Kingston, Ontario. _________________ 2010 Glastron GT 205XL ( Volvo 4.3L GL-J)

It's really a matter of personal preference. I have always ridden finless....I learned on a board with no molded fins, no center fins, nothing. This isn't the best way, it's just how I happened to do it based upon equipment. I think it's good to learn to ride without a large center fin eventually just because it really forces you to rely on edge control. After you have learned and tried both, then you can make an educated decision on whether or not the fins are necessary for your particular preferences. |
