There were some big waves a few weeks ago so I figured I would take out the jetskis for a little fun.

I used to think that it would be fun to jump the waves while in Florida. Then, one day I tried it and almost crushed my damn spine. Bubb Rubb PWC and waves.

JoeyJojo, if you're riding a real jetski, your legs absorb the shock.

Yeah, I know. I was on an old Yamaha, absorbed shock with my legs and misjudged/slipped and hit that hard ass seat.

I've seen bigger "waves" on Lake Mead: those aren't 12-14 anything but inches. And yes they were fun as f*** to jump on either the 650SX or the modded XP. The 650SX was just a frigging workout from hell but awesome. The XP was kickass because the thrust nozzle + impeller mods gave it redonkulous holeshot which in heavy chop = yeeehaw.

And Joey - bend your knees dummy!

STPHNSN23, damn dude you have a "real" jetski. Thats so badass! Do you wear gloves and goggles too?

The wideangled lens of the go pro distorts the waves / horizon a lot. Thats why they look so small.

at 4:12-4:20 of the video my buddy is riding in front of the same wave as me and you can tell how big the wave is from the size of him. And that particular wave wasn't even one of the big sets.

Another thing to take into note is the horizon disappearing. I can guarantee thats not something you have seen on mead. And if it was, you wouldn't question those waves for a second.

The waves were indeed that big that weekend. They knocked planks and railing off the end of the local fishing pier (built to withstand hurricanes.)

I always referred to sit downs as wave runners, and stand ups as jet skis. Either would be fun. Better fun on a jet ski but I would like to sit down at some point out on the water.

Did anyone look at the video and wish they were surfing those waves? How about some tow in surfing, that would be cool!

Nope... Who wants to tow into to a channel... Towing in is for big ish you can still paddle into to waves that size... If they are worth surfing, otherwise they are similar to the rollers I can find in Monterey and Carmel on any given weekend and not worth the wetsuit, hoody or booties...
