Why post such a poll in USA, In a boat forum...

Post it at wakeworld.de or something like that, and the results will reverse.

I don't understand the whole "them versus us" mentality. Boat fanboys? Seriously? Confused

Most of the users on this site live in the US, where cable parks are not as prevalent as they are in other parts of the world. I'm not sure that makes people "fanboys."

I dont think the "us vs them" mentality was started by the cable guys. We were given the nick name of "cable rats" and constantly told that what we do is not "legit". Its kinda ridiculous and it really gets old. It is just recently that cable is gaining respect in these online communities and that is thanks to people like Medina and myself that help to put things into a new perspective for all the "boatfanboys". <- that cracked me up haha

I met a dude in college that could shred on cable and had never gone behind a boat. Took him a couple trys to get up! and then it looked like he had never rode in his life.

Boat for sure

boat, but I really wish there were more cable parks in the us. I can really only wakeboard every other weekend for 3 months throughout the summer, if that.

If there were some cable parks around school or back home I'd be hittin those way more than boat. But I'd view it as practicing for the boat.

Cant go wrong either way they both rock! If you cant respect them both then you need to experience them both first hand.

My friend had a moped in highschool.... he loved that thing... thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread...

Then he got a car and never rode the moped again...

So, in this context, his car is like my boat... If there isnt a wake im not really interested anymore... not to say cable is lesser... or people arent killing it on cable (cuz they are)... its just not for me... I can hit all the rails and kickers I want when the snow is on the ground.

I definitely was more against cable in the beginning because it wasn't for me but I was good about keeping my thoughts to myself. I think cable riding has it's place - learning new tricks is certainly lower impact and if you like rails then it's definitely for you.

For me I hate rails (don't like hard things to kill myself on) so the boat is where it's at for me.

Us vs them shouldn't really be a mentality but I don't see a lot of harm in stating where your heart is. And mines on the boat <3

The same thing happens to boat riders when they first come to the park. I have seen really good boat riders take a few falls before getting the dock start. I have also seen boat riders with tons of tricks feel so awkward on the kickers that they look like noobs.

But... If you take a guy who can do roll to blinds on the boat and give him a while to either learn how to hit a kicker or load the line, he will be able to do the same roll to blind that he does on the boat. Same thing for the cable rider that does roll to blinds, give him a chance to learn how to handle the wake and he will be able to do his tricks as well.

Just my input, but I consider myself a self styled free Rider, capitalisation on the Rider part. Though i do, boat more than I get to go to Cable. Cable is an ever growing sport. This mentality as someone mentioned of legit or not is unreal. Shredding and riding for my friends and I is a lifestyle whether its behind a boat or behind a cable.

I respect all the pros whether it be shaun murray (more of a boater) or Nick Davies (cable). It really comes down to are you... yes you happy with what your doing and what can you afford.

My family owns a 2010 Super Air Nautique 230 and it's wicked, but let me tell you it flippin expensive but we knew that before we bought the boat. Cable is breaking down the boundaries and allowing everyone (from all walks of life) to experience "wakeboarding" as a sport, hobby, lifestyle.

Opps!! my bad, forgot to mention those who love those winches which are really badA#$ by the way. Seriously scary stuff, can take on any urban or outdoor environment. You need big kahunas. lol. Twisted Evil

Anyway blab session over. Just enjoy it there's no this or that, there's right now. Free Rider 4 life. Cheers Razz

Boat for me, hands down. I rode for 12 full seasons before I even tried cable so I'm pretty partial, but I love going behind boat for the wake. Jumping back and forth doing all different stuff is what I enjoy most. Cable is fun, but a whole different animal. I don't really have the patience for myself to learn air tricks and the same rails in the same circle get a little old real quick for me. Kickers are fun, but to an extent.... but I'll boot off Big White at Odub any day Smile

If you take the wake away from wakeboarding then it isn't "wakeboarding" anymore. Not to diss on riding a cable cuz I have done it and I like to do it but it is not wakeboarding. It is a wakeboarding substitute.

Mabe we're going about the whole Name thing all wrong. If your riding a "Wakeboard" on cable or winch, your still riding a "Wakeboard", even tho its technically not behind a boat. Same goes for Wakeskates right. I guess unless you use a kiteboard(IDK the difference) on cable or winch, or even behind the boat for that matter. Is it still technically a kiteboard even if riding behind a boat.
