im takin a trip to australia and would like to know how strict is united airlines with carrying wakeboards? would I better off just renting a board and bindings when I get there? gonna be riding a lot and rental fees is gonna add up any help would be kosher, staying for 3 weeks

A wakeboard is treated like any other baggage... what you will need to do is package it properly (nice chunky padded board bag) - if they break it you'll be screwed.

so long as its within their size allowance you're golden.

As you'll be carrying 2 bags you'll need to let them know and obviously pay the extra.

Renting/Buying out in Oz isn't something you want to do - Boards and bindings are big $$$ over there. It wouldn't be the worst idea to take a couple close-out boards with you to sell while you are there to earn a few bucks.

yeah ill be taking mine to brazil this winter.... do u think putting a handle with care sticker on the bag help a bit?

thnx 4 the help fellas, will be leaving on the 14th superstoked, gonna bring my own stuff and let them know that they are not wakeboards but waterskis, I heard they allow water skis for free, so Imm gonna stick with that story............my boards are grind based so it shud be able to take a beating and hopefully not get damaged, cheers mates

Yeah or zip up the board bag and say its a surfboard I did that going to oz and it was free.. Mr. Green
