Hey guys, i live in illinois and only make a snowboarding trip once a year. Because of this i am looking to buy a cheap set up of boots, bindings, and q board. I am tired of wasting my money renting. Im 6'4" 190lbs. And wear a size 13 shoe. Let me know..

If you're only riding once a year then why buy? The cost only in luggage fees on planes ofsets the cost of renting vs. buying.

Agreed. Rent. It's just easier.

If you are hell bent on buying, www.evogear.com usually has great buys, and the guys there are cool to deal with.

We just drive up to Wisconsin so I don't have to deal with planes. Renting each year is about 80 bucks, that adds up.

What's cheap? What type of terrain do you ride? I'm a bit shorter and heavier (6'0" 225lbs) I got my set up last year for about 300. K2 Brigade 163 wide($160 new), Ride Delta bindings($95 new), Van's High Standard($40 used) I got everything in mid Dec. Christmas sales and what not. Plus these were all closeouts from the previous season. I got the board from Evo.com bindings from Sierra (now trusnow.com) and the boots off craigslist.

For your size I'd look in the 160-165 range and you will need a wide with size 13 boots. The main problem you are going to run into is boots when ordering online, having boots the fit right are key to a good day on the hill. Stay away from junk brands, Lamar, 5150, ect. Also look around the classifieds on the snowboarding forums. If you join the forums at trusnow they give away a couple decks every weekday to members that log in at 3pm pacific, never know might get lucky.
