So I've been into wakeboarding for a while, and rode my friends wakeskate a few times, decided I wanted one. Looked online and instead of buying one I went ahead and made my own (since it was pretty rainy - not much else to do). Took me about a week, but I think it turned out alright... I guess we'll see for sure when I hit the lake tomorrow!

Any suggestions on future models would be appreciated...

Good work for a first skate! It looks like the rocker might be a little steep but other than that, good work. (I prefer more conacve than that, maybe 4 layers instead of 2 like you did. I really like that shape though!

As soon as I get my garage cleared-out I think i'm going to build a press. It looks like a fun project and it'd be awesome to ride something I made.

Eh...that one rode all right, but I was happy with it for my first try. I've actually become pretty addicted to it and have been designing/prototyping quite a few wakeskates and wakeboards (actually working on some portable sliders as well) in my free time. It's really cool when you realize how different features of the board ride and what not, and you get pretty ecstatic when a design does what you were hoping to do (such as give you more pop/cut better without fins/etc.).

If you do make your own, make sure you take your time with them, don't take short cuts. It is VERY important to make sure the glue is spread out evenly (use a paint brush or something), and it is even a good thing to have some glue overflow on the edges (just take a wet paper towel and it will clean off no problem before it dries). The more accurate you are with the shapes on each layer, the less sanding you will have later - and you will have a LOT of sanding (just crank the tunes and enjoy a nice day - I recommend using a respirator of some sort).

You can honestly make one with wood, glue, sand paper, clamps, and a jigsaw - you don't need any heavy machinery or anything like that (though it would make it easier)

I'll show some pictures of 2 more of the boards I've done just to give you an idea of my progression, but I gotta keep some of my other designs private at the moment incase something takes off, hah.

Like I said, so addicting and I couldn't enjoy it more - just a shame the lake is getting cold, its so tough to try out new designs now!

With the second one, I made it smaller and I tried seeing what would happen with a rounded edge - more like a snowboard/skateboard

I like the design ideas! Sick man.

The last one with the stringer running through the middle looks interesting. Seems like it would stick to your feet a lot better on landings with more contour.
