I have been trying to learn how to do a raley for a lot of my summer and haven't stuck one yet. Most of the time I either stargaze bad and end up hitting the water on my side. If I dont stargaze I will end up doing a complete front flip. I have read to help the stargazing I need to put more weight on my front foot. I also read for the flipping I need to keep my eyes above the tower in front of the boat. Are there any other tips? The falls from stargazing hurt pretty bad and I was out of commission for about 2 weeks after one of these falls. |

Commit 100%. There is no half assing this trick. Thats what I had to tell myself. I was approaching the trick knowing the falls were going to hurt, so I would "half ass" it which only made it worse. Go for it and hold nothing back. |

*This is all based off of my cable raley experience, so I'm not sure how different it is behind a boat other than the lower tow-point.
Make sure your shoulders are squared up to the rope (this is what looking at the tower accomplishes. Another tip I learned was not to force yourself back down, extend fully and then bring the board under you. If you pop and don't wait, you're going to have a REALLY hard time pulling your body back underneath you since it's still trying to drift out. POP, wait, pull, land. DONE!
Also, commit 100% to it. To get the heebie-jeebies out, try it off of a wakeskate a few times until you consistanty get back to your feet. |
