Hey guys... this winter I am wanting to replace the Mastercraft decals on my '83 stars and stripes. What do you use to make the gel coat shine??? I read that wax doesn't last. Is there something out there that might last a season?

wetsand with 600 grit paper, use a good multi speed buffer, and a 3 stage pad system with liquid ice wax and buffing compound. it will look like new if you take your time and do it right.

when you do it, get some gel cote repair and fix the scratches first. then it wont be a problem and it will look like new.

You're definitely going to want to start out with wetsanding and progress through buffing and finish with wax. There are several schools of thought on methods and products to use. Once you go through the process the gelcoat will look like new and then you will need to maintain it with wax from there. Depending on how much it is on the water and/ or out in the sun will determine how often you will want to put on a new coat of wax. The key to this process is to take your time, do it right and make sure you use high quality products.
