Alright, I know I'm kicking a dead horse here but...
I can not land a backroll. I ALWAYS go to revert....even if I let go with my rear hand.
Has anyone else had this problem...if so how did you fix it??
I'll try to post a video later.
Thanks for any help.... _________________ "I don't understand...what is this NO WAKE zone you speak of?...and what does it mean?" |

Without a vid, my guess would be you aren't carrying your release all the way through the wake so you are having to force the rotation a little. Or you may be sketching out a little once you are inverted and opening up then.
The backroll should flow from start to finish, you shouldn't open up at all if you leave the wake right. Try to get your edge nice and heavy when you get to the trough of the wake, hold the handle with BOTH HANDS (don't even let off w/ your rear hand) and keep it right at your belly button the whole trick. Only let it out a little if you throw the rotation real fast or if the landing gets real heavy.
And use your head to help you through the motions, I look up to the sky when I am releasing to make sure I leave the wake nice and tall, I look over my front shoulder until I see the 2nd wake, then I let my head drift with my body on the way down for a soft landing. |

| hey, i just learned backrolls the other day in like 6 tries or so during some wakeboard lessons and they told me that you should keep the handle close to your body and towards your lead hip. i'm left foot forward so i keep it right at my left hip. so when you land the handle is in the correct position to ride away. try that, i almost landed switch and then got the handle thing corrected and it worked for me. |

try holding on with your front hand, and keep your hand into your body, dont yank the rope, that will cause a spin, i know a guy that tries backrolls and he ends up doing an off axis 360, his problem may be similar to you, he is pulling the rope, keep the rope taught, but dont pull it to the side

richie martin...
i have the exact same problem with my rolls, its is so weird how it happens ive kept the rope into my body the entire time but it still doesnt work, so i gave up on it and am trying a trick thats kinda like an elephant, where you throw you roll to revert and let go with your back hand and once you get around pull it back to a regular back roll, it is the tighest trick cause you wont find anyone else doing it. hope any of this helps. _________________ no comment |
