I have a hard time doing deepwater starts. I am 6'9" and it takes a lot to get me on top of the water. Would it be any easier to do a dockstart to start off. _________________ Rogers |

I doubt a dock start (sitting) would help you at all. Jumping into the water is out of the question.
Getting up on a wakeboard is all about technique. The 3 most important things you need to focus on:
1. Keep your knees all the way to your chest
2. Leave your arms fully extended
3. Keep your toes up
9/10 times guys try to stand up and pull in. You have to let the boat pull you up. Think about lying on the ground and a friend is going to try to help you up. You don't extend your legs and keep your arms close. You can actually practice this with a friend.
The only other component is keeping the board at an angle that will let it rise out of the water.
This image is huge (found it on the internet) but demonstrates the position. As soon as the boat starts pulling, if you are balanced behind the board, you'll be out of the water in no time. You can see the angle at which the board would angle.

chawk610,
BigRog1080, that should be plenty of power. You don't want the driver to gun it, you want a steady acceleration at a medium pace. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

Steady acceleration. Alright that is the first issue. My driver, my father in law, is an old school skier and he thinks that everything has to be done at the maximum. Rips the rope out of my hands a lot of times. I will definitely try this weekend.
Thanks Wakebrad!! _________________ Rogers |
