I think I knew the answer to this question at one point, but I can't find any mention of it anywhere. Are the 2010 SS boards any different from the 2009 ones? I know the fins are different, but I seem to think that they beefed up the middle of the board to be slightly stiffer. Am I crazy? _________________ Keep Austin Weird |

Anyone know when SS's will go on close-out? I had been meaning to get a new board this year but haven't gotten around to it. Seems like I'm only a month away from close-out prices. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

What water channels? The bottom design is "flat"
savage3221, I had heard that the 2010 was stiffer between the bindings also... not sure if it is fact though... I have the 09 recoil, but havent gotten a chance to ride the 2010. _________________ When life hands you a Jeffrey just rub the furry walls... |

isuckatwakin, yeah, I would assume that that would be the case, but I thought I heard this.. hmm.
LaynDoor, yeah, that's what I'm talking about, that would be interesting. I'd snatch a closeout 2010 board because I love my 09, but I'm intrigued by the potential of the board with a slightly stiffer middle. Not much more though, it's so good already.
Wakebrad, I'm sure they'll start in a few months, I remember seeing some boards go closeout around September sometimes.. but I don't know if that's the earliest/norm, I just remember it because I start school around that time and I got one closeout right at the beginning of school before. _________________ Keep Austin Weird |

| No, I mean the 2011 ones. The ones people havnt seen. I saw a slingshot rider at the cable riding a 2011 Recoil that had the same fins, with water channels. |

| isuckatwakin, Yeah, the rumor mill had it that they were going to release a reflex with molded fins sometime in the late 2010 season but it never really came to fruition but I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see something like this in the 2011 models. |

not really sure how a flex board could have molded in fins and still have the tip / tail flex... since molded features make a board more rigid
Unless they were really small? and then, whats the point? _________________ When life hands you a Jeffrey just rub the furry walls... |

LaynDoor, It will definitely reduce the amount of flex, but depending on the size of the channels/fins (depending on which is actually on the final product), that stiffness can be limited.
A BIG thing is materials though. Find the right stuff to make your board out of, and you can probably get an ok sized channel with some decent traction AND keep your flex. |

Hmmm, I'm interested to see this, but I don't know about it. I really like the way my SS rides now, and I thought that a thickening between my feet might be nice, but I'm not sure about the channels. I'm sure I'll like it, channels aren't a bad thing, I'll just have to try yet another board _________________ Keep Austin Weird |

savage3221, You might have an option. Supposedly they were going to release both versions of the Reflex; one with channels and the original, flat one.
Who can say for sure though? |

Well, I'll still go for a Response I think, the continuous rocker plus the flex is so nice _________________ Keep Austin Weird |

I am also curious about this and was wondering if they are comparable or noticeably softer than some of the LF lineup that was known for softer landings (lyman, shane, maybe others). Any feedback from someone who's rode one of those? _________________ Today is a chance to become a greater person than the person we were the day before. |

It isn't hype, the flex definitely affects the landings. I wouldn't say that they are like "god's given gift to soft landings and pillow top water" but they certainly help with hard landings. I'd say try to get out and ride one, preferably for more than one set because sometimes the flex is a little funky to someone new to it. I love mine.
I've ridden the LF Substance, Shane, Watson, Fish and some others, I think that the SS is softer than or equal to each of them, but that is also affected by how you use the flex, so get out there and try one if you can. _________________ Keep Austin Weird |
