1.) Make sure your arms are around your knees.
2.) Flex your abs. This makes sure your body stays in the correct position (it's worked for all of my friends who I have taught how to wakeboard).
3.) Keep your knees bent.
4.) Do not lean forward. Let the boat (or jetski) pull you up.
Those are the only tips I could think of at the moment. |

Ah, my mistake.
I've only done that type of start once or twice, so I don't know much about it. |

Easy, hope in the water and keep your knees bent. When the boat starts to pull just push your legs out and you'll pop out.
When you're in the water keep your knees bent like your in a chair or you can even keep your knees up under your armpits. It's all about keeping the board out in front of your waistline. |

Why would you not just bend your knee's instead of keeping your legs straight?
When I teach people how to get up, I always try to get them to do it with the board underwater, but knee's completely bent. |

| I think you are doing deep water starts, but what you want to do is a pro start. Where the board is already underwater and it looks like you just stand up like there is an elevator under the water? |

It is called a deep water start, you got it right. To learn it, when the rope is sliding through your hands, grab onto it to help pull you on top of your board. As the boat idles forward, you should be able to use the rope to keep the board balanced under you. Your body position should look like you're sitting in a little kid's chair, pretty squatted.
Once you get the handle, have the driver just idle forward in gear. From there, you should be able to find the right angle with your ankles. You only need the toeside edge of the board to be slightly higher than the heelside. The board will slice up through the water. At idle speed, you should be able to get at least halfway up, if not all the way up just for a couple seconds, then you'll slowly sink back down.
Practice doing that at idle speed until you get the feel for it. Once you start doing that more, you'll naturally figure out how to get and keep the board under you without using the rope. Good luck! |

Deep water starts are actually super easy, it's just a thing you need to try once or twice with the proper form. Keep your knees up high, if they're straight your board will just be pulled behind you. Keep you butt behind your heels, arms straight and toes up, and your board will just lift you out of the water like a big wing. _________________ Keep Austin Weird |

Again, to clarify, he is not asking how to get up on the board. He is asking how to do the "pro start" with his legs extended all the way down before the boat even starts moving to where it looks like he is standing and being elevated out of the water.
I find the easiest way to do it is to bend my knees so that that the board is hitting me in the ass underwater, and then I slowly straighten them to get the board under me. Once I get it below me, I lock my knees but relax everything else to keep it balanced. Once the boat starts moving, it is all about keeping that position but pulling the toes up. _________________

Sounds like he is really just asking how to get the board underneath him while he's in the water.
I agree this can be a huge pain in the ass. Firstly, I try to immediately get the board underneath me after a fall. It is usually easier to do this when there are rollers coming by then when you are just floating static in the water with the board in front of you. However, if you are static floating, what I usually do is bring my knees in and do a breast-stroke type maneuver to get my upper body up and over the board. You kinda have to do it all in one motion, and if you've had a long set can take a decent amount of energy...but I still do it every time cuz I think it looks retarded to just float there helplessly like a douche with the board in front of you. |
