i'm one of those riders that owns their own gear, but no boat. Sad isn't it. I'm wondering what everyone thinks is the best way to get into a boat. I was looking at used and realized, I'm going to have to buy a truck to pull it. I've got a Subaru Legacy outback and I figure that won't do the trick. Are there lighter weight boats out there that I could get away with it in my 'Ru? I also saw the Yamaha AR210 online while I was looking at motorcycles (off the subject, I know ). Does anyone know anything about this boat?

I don't know for sure what the towing capacity is on your Outback but I'd be surprised if it was more than 2000 lbs. You're going to be hard pressed to find a boat & trailer combo that come in at that. If you were to look at trading off your Outback for a small truck or SUV, that would get you into the ballpark. (For example, the Ford Escape w/V6 & towing package can tow 3500 lbs.)
Sorry, can't tell you anything about the Yamaha. |

Another option would be to keep your boat at a marina. It can be costly but might save you buying a new car. I keep my boat in a storage area about 1/2 mile from my ramp and i tow my outback with my town and country. The boat and trailor weigh more than the tow limit but it doesn't matter for such a short distance.
