Had my boat out this weekend and it was working fine and then all of a sudden it started to overheat. I tried a quick fix and took out the t stat still overheated. I check to see if the screen was plugged in the water intake it was clean. What else can it be besides the water pump failing

Check the impeller - I would replace it even if it looks OK. If it has failed and the vanes have shredded, then you'll need to hunt through the lines and pick out the rubber pieces so they don't clog the passageways.
