I need to change the oil in my Tige 21I for the first time. I have a Mercruiser 315 hp 5.7 350. I know to put the drain hose out the bottom of the boat and drain the oil. I was going to get the oil today, but I left my owners manual at home. Do I have to buy special oil and filter from the boat shop, or can I get what I need at the auto parts store. Also is there anything special I need to know?
Open the oil cap. If the oil doesn't come out then hook a hose to your water intake and run the engine for 5-10 minutes. (with the oil cap back on and hose plugged) Then drain the oil. You should use the type of oil the manufacturer recommends but it should be something you can get at any auto parts store as well as the filter. Make sure you get the old oil filter O-ring off when youy change them. I'D say call a dealer and ask them questions about it too. Good luck!
