Anyone done it?

I started it a week ago. It is pretty brutal, but seem to be the real deal. It is definitely not some trendy ineffective fad workout thing that promises results without having to put much effort in. All last week I couldn't lift my arms over my head. Hopefully I will keeping finding the time to stick with it for the full 90 days.

I'm of the belief that if you do any workout and put in the consistent effort, you will get results. Regardless of the "system". Systems are good if you are going for high-level, activity specific training IMO.

Been wanting to for quite some time and finally found someone who is dumping their stuff on craigslist for $50.

Friend of mine completed it and insane results. Said it was hard to stay with it for the first 3 weeks, then after that it was like clockwork.

The only thing that I have to say is that once you complete try and keep your conversations you have on something other than P90X. Every conversation I have with this guy is P90X this and P90X that and Amino Acids this and Amino Acids that. Brutal

I thought it was a rediculous waste of time until a friend dared me to do it for a month. I started about a month ago and for the first time in my workouts I am sore every day. The program is a challenge and it is something you can set your mind to and complete. There are many people that will scare you off and tell you its too difficult. The reality is, is that you can make it as hard or as easy as it is. I chose to challenge myself everyday so the path I am taking makes the program extremely difficult. This program is not something I will do year round. I will probablly do my normal bulk/cut routine in the future. I will use p90x for my cut and heavy weight in the gym for my bulk. The diet is extremely important. If you dont follow it you are putting a bunch of hard work in and going to see half the results. Most of the people I know simply dont have the fortitude to stick with the diet. Dieting has always come easy for me so I have a bit of an unfair advantage in this area. To give you a comparisson there are many people who had done body for life. The diet on body for life is more difficult. The workouts are MUCH more difficult in P90x...Most of the workouts last about an hour and a half and you are completely spent when you are done..I would start with Body for Life and then move on to p90x. One last piece of advice dont torrent the dvds..Everyone I know that has gotten them for free hasnt stuck with it. If you pay out of your pocket you are much more likely to stick with it.

I'd like to give it a go - then I could be like that Bo-flex guy.
"I'm 40 years old and in the best shape of my life".... yeah but you still look like a homo and have no woman....LOL....

No seriously it looks like the stuff I used to do for a work out in my 20's when I didn't need to work out..looks hard core IMO...

Can they just bottle up all the workouts you did in your 20's so you can drink the results in your late 30's for instant results?LOL..

Yes I have caught myself doing that. I have to watch myself because I find that every conversation I have gravitates towards P90x. Once you start you get amped about it and want to share it with everyone. Its hard to remember that 99% of the people in the world could give a crap about your workout routine....The best thing that has come out of my p90x adventure is the ability to let the stress go of what is going on in the world..I am so tired when I am done the last thing I care about is what some idiot politician is doing that I have no control over...

I started April 1 as well. I'm sore and it feels good. I really try to stick to the diet as much as possible but I don't have the money every couple of days to buy exactly what I need.

I've noticed a lot of my conversations somehow end up talking about p90x as well.

I am on week 7 right now and am loving it. The hardest part is finding the time. I am NOT a morning person and I can't drag my butt out of bed to do the workouts before work, so I do them right when I get home. By the time I do the workout, shower, and eat it's usually around 8-8:30 and I go to bed at 10 so my day is pretty much gone.

I would suggest if starting the workouts on Sunday, that way Saturday is your rest day.

I saw minimal improvement in the first month. I only lost about 5 lbs, and didn't look too different, but I did feel a lot better. I really noticed improvement after week 5 when I went for my first bike ride of the season. I went for a quick ten mile loop just as a joyride and I beat my best time by about 2 minutes without really trying to. I think Plyo really helped that. Just within the last two weeks I am starting to shed some pounds. I started at 210 and I am at 196 now and it's been going down steadily and that has got me pumped.

No joke about people talking about it. If I hear one more captain ask if I do P90X I'm going to jump out of the plane. Just go to the gym and lift for an hour or go for a run. The guys that do P90X are swinging so hard from the Tony guy's balls.

I do it, it works, and its easily my favorite workout of all time. I've been lifting for about 11 years.

First month I lost 10 lbs and 2 inches off my waist. I have lots to say about it but basically give it a try and do yor best to stick to the regimen, you will see results and have fun doing it.

Right now I'm doing it at about 50% effort because I am also training for a triathlon.

I don't really have time to count every calorie and make sure my proportions are right. I have just been eating healthier and watching my carbs. I try to eat more protein and drink a protein shake once a day and after the three lifting workouts a week. I have been eating what ever I want for the past 10 years and have not put on any weight, so I am hopping just eating healthier with smaller portions will yield similiar results without having to plan out every meal and count every calorie.

I just looked into this last night. It looks quite interesting, friend of mine reffered me and It's something I really want to try. I have my own home workout, but it gets so monotonus it just puts me to sleep. I'm not the biggest fan of the same workout every single freaking day. Seems like everyone gets results as well!

How is starting out from ground zero? are there like "starter kit" ideas? or do you just jump into it feet first?

I figure this would be great for riding. You have less weight to pull, and stronger, more condition muscles to take the beating.

I'm in week 7. So far so good. We changed our routine to wake up in the morning and get it out of the way. My wife is NOT a morning person, but she'll get up at 5:45 for a P90X workout. It's crazy. It gives us the evening to do other things. Otherwise, it's work, P90X, dinner, bed.

We started on Sunday to give us Saturday as the rest day (like kd recommended).

It's hard to follow their eating plan specifically. My wife and I have both just watched what we've been eating and the pounds have come off. I've lost about 10 pounds total, but the real difference is the inches of fat that are gone.

I HATE working out. And I hate these routines, but I'm staying motivated. Not too long until bathing suit season!

There is a P90 version, however since you wakeboard you should be forced to get the X version.

It is brutal starting from ground zero, but can be done. You just can't be expecting to hang with the guys on the video. I was in pretty good cardio shape, but haven't lifted weights in a while. I hung with the cardio just fine, but the lifting days have killed me. I also am not very flexible at all, so the yoga put a serious hurting on me. I haven't done sit-ups or cruchnes regularly in years either so the ab ripper video has been difficult for me to hang with. However all these things are getting better with each day. If you are or have been in decent shape, and are somewhat active, I would just dive in and deal with the pain the first couple of weeks. Or atleast that has been my approach.

Also I would definately start on the appropriate day to make your rest day fall when you want. I did not do that, and wish I would have. However, the stretch video they reccomend on your rest day is awesome and still takes and hour.

I've been looking into this, my gym membership expires at the end of the month. What kind and how much equipment do you have to have for this system? What are some of the diet restrictions? I'm guessing that a super size double quarter pounder meal is not in the plan Rolling Eyes

JeffreyCH, As far as equipment, I think all you need are dumbells, and a pull up bar. At least thats all I've seen my roommate use. I think he got some push-up bars, but you don't have to have them.

They show you how to do the whole work out with those powerbands if you want to go bear minimum.

A better setup is to have a pull up bar and a set of dumbells. You also need a chair for various things.

Other not needed extras are:
Yoga mat
Yoga blocks
Heart rate monitor
someone to help you out of bed after the first day.

I've done the P90X workout twice now. Once you finish it you should try the P90X Plus workouts. I think it's 4 or 5 more DVD's and I can tell you that they are alot harder than the X workouts. I dont even like doing the Plus workouts.

Someone that works out, school me on Creatine. I have never used it but would like to try it out starting the fifth week. I think I read somewhere that you take a certain amount for five days and then take significantly less everyday after that. Is that still the accepted method? Do you take it at a specific time in relation to your work out (before or after) or does it not matter?

Any info is appreciated.

You really dont have to cycle creatine like you did in the past. You can take it in shake form, or pill form. Go talk to some of them crazy folks at GNC or someplace like that. You could take it daily for a long time if you wished. I have used creatine in the past, and still take some now, but Im mainly using protein.

I think I'm gonna give this a shot starting next month after finals is over. I'm thinking about ordering the bowflex selecttech 552 too (for p90x and to use afterwards).

Crossfit is the way to go. Its free, bad-ass, and if you do it right, will shred you in to pieces. Its easy to do because they have videos for every exercise and demos, that will make you throw up or pass out whatever comes first.

http://www.crossfit.com/

Also, stay away from Creatine (its just water in your muscles) and crap like that. Youre wasting money. A good protein mix and diet is all you need.

There is only one rule on getting stronger, make it a routine. Youre not going to see results in the two weeks or even a month. Thats usually when people give up.
