Been looking to buy a nice open bow wake boat. I have looked on craigslist, onlyinboards, ebay, and boat trader nothing to good. My price range is 12000-14000 _________________ www.shredthreadsink.com |

Don't buy Moomba! That's all I got for ya in that price range...
An old Mastercraft Prostar would probably be nice in that price range...is that an option? |

No moomba? Haven't heard anything bad about them. As long as its a prostar 205 and its open bow. Just sold mine yesterday and missing it all ready. Wouldn't mind a tige or ski supreme either. _________________ www.shredthreadsink.com |

| I'm in the same situation. Only thing I can really find in that price range are some 1990-95 pro stars with 500 or so hours on them. How do these boats hold up on larger lakes that can get a little choppy? That's my only concern. I'm wondering if I should go with something like a Larson or Four Winns and just wakeboard behind that. I really want a wakeboard boat though. I'm just starting out in wakeboarding, so I wouldn't know the difference. |

| For 12-14 I'd steer clear of moomba too, their older boats that fit into that price range are crap. You should be able to find a 205 or maybe even a super sport if you look hard enough. Prices always drop in the winter too if you can wait that long. |

You can basically find any boat in the budget wakeboat sticky on this forum in that price range.
No comment on brand vs brand. _________________ Today is a chance to become a greater person than the person we were the day before. |

| I found a 1998 Mastercraft 205 Sammy Duvall edition boat with 800 hours on it and the guy wants 15,000 for it. Is this too much? What is the difference between a Sammy Duvall edition and a regular one? Thanks |

| I also found a 1993 Mastercraft 205 that I can get for 11K. It looks to be in great condition, but it has 1,000 hours on it. To a newbie in wakeboard boats like myself that seems like a rediculous amount of hours, but alot of wakeboard boats I've seen for sale have in the 700 hour range. What do you guys think about that many hours. I'm a newb to wakeboarding and don't want to get screwed on my first boat, but I'm about to pull the trigger just to be done with it so I can get started. Thanks for any suggestions |

I personally think 11k is very steep for 1k hours. That being said I don't think 1k hours means "don't buy me" I just think 11k is far too much to ask - unless it's totally decked out with PP auto ballast system, is it a v-drive? ok then maybe it's worth it. Otherwise I would try to talk him down or walk away.
As far as sammy duvall I have no idea, I'm not well versed on the MC 205. Someone here should know though. I dunno it all depends how the boats are maintained too. If someone knows what they're doing 1k hours is just a baby. _________________ Today is a chance to become a greater person than the person we were the day before. |

To put it in perspective I bought an 89 malibu sunsetter no PP, no ballasts, with one engine mount loose due to stringer rot. I got my boat for 7.5k and I did a half a$$ed fix on the stringer to the point where it's unlikely it will be a problem for the rest of the boats life. After I put my ballasts system in it and all other kinds of crap it was still under 9k and had right around 500 hours on it.
I guess I feel like for my price even if I had to do the worst and replace stringers it would still be less than 15k invested in that boat, and it had way less hours so IMO they are asking far too much. I mean I saw a guy the other day who was looking at a gently used v-drive for about 16k. _________________ Today is a chance to become a greater person than the person we were the day before. |
