Vator, Nice boat! any boat that you can ride behind is good, in my opinion. I ride behind an 86 Supra comp and use to use a fence pole over my pylon as my "tower" The Trip is a great board, rode one for a couple years.
As far as the braces, I tore my ACL last year as well. Long story short I ended up seeing one of the doctors that the Red Wings use. He recommended the "DonJoy Defiance III" You'll see ALOT of CTi braces and such and if people like them thats fine, but I asked the specialist who was fitting me and she said that CTi has better marketing, not a better brace. She has a masters in mechanical engineering as well. She explained to me that the fitment of the CTi has never impressed her, and that the way the DonJoy protects the knee is much better than the CTi.
The Defiance III has whats called a "force point hinge" you can change cams in the actual hinge to limit your travel. But what it does is the last 10° or so the spring starts engaging and essentially slowing your extension down. I don't even notice it when I ride. My knee doesn't hurt after riding at all.
Here is a couple pics of my brace. The only thing I'm going to have to upgrade to it is the bottom strap comes loose. So I'm gonna have a snap put on to keep it in place.

Oh no trouble! and it also weights 1.8lbs, wet!
I requested EVERY single extra strap you can get. Theres a "unstable" knee or something like that upgrade that gives you the extra strap in front of the thigh.
