If money isn't an issue, I suggest this one: http://www.boardstop.com/product_info.php?cPath=67_55_254&products_id=4199

it feels like heaven in your hands. If not, any rope that is of the non-stretch variety works great and it should be roughly 70' long.

What length to ride at is a tougher question as it typically depends on the boat and a lot of other factors. A good starting point though is probably 65-70' with the handle included into that measurement. Typically handles add an extra 5' to the length.

Thanx for the help! That will be a good one seeing how you can add or take away 5 foot section of the rope!

You just tie the rope at the various loops. If you want to go in 5 feet you just move the rope 5 feet in and tie off at that location.
