I just started wakeboarding this year and I am having trouble riding switch. I don't know if it is because my bindings are not set up correctly. I have them set back should I move them to the middle of the board? Also will this make the board react differently? I can do a 180 and a butterslide but I need to get good at riding switch. Will moving my bindings to the middle of the board make that easier???? Thanks for your help. Razz Rolling Eyes

Well it depends on how tall you are really. I'm 5'10 or so and I had my bindings near the middle of the board and it was causing problems. When I moved them out wider it was more comfy, so that makes a difference.

I am 6'5" so I think from what you said I should spread the bindings out more but move them to the center of the board. I think this is what you are telling me. Rolling Eyes

In order to ride switch your bindings should ideally be symmetrical along the board - meaning if you have the left binding one hole in, for example, the right one should be one hole in as well. There are always exceptions - if your legs have a significant difference in length, for example.

Whether the stance is wide or narrow is a personal preference - that is to say, whether you place your bindings as far apart from each other as they'll go or move them in together. I think you'll find that most people on this site place their bindings in a wide stance - as far out as they'll go or only one hole in.

You probably just need to practice, I have seen people ride switch with really goofy stances before. Just do a butter or 180 and once you are going switch you dont even need to jump at first just ride back and forth arcross the wakes and get use to carving. You could even try to ole(for me that takes alittle bit of thinking). It just takes time.

what worked for me is to have them set up symmetrical same distance from each end on the same angle.

it helps when you first start riding to do it switched, when you start just come out of the water switched and ride like that most of the day, that is what I did and after a while you will feel just as natural riding switch as you do normally. You may even forget which way is you normal stance.
